what builder do you think makes the absolute best guitars?

Who makes the absolute best guitars?

No one could answer that, there are too many things to take into consideration. I saw guys rip it with some cheapo mexican Fenders or PRS SE. The guitar has certainly a role, but the main thing is the guitar player that's using it. Being in Montreal, yeah, I did try one of those Liberatore guitars, and despite the fact that it was well built, well, it wasn't the "absolute best" to me. The absolute best guitar will be the one you feel comfy with, the one that makes you feel great and the one that inspires you to play, regardless of the name that's on it. I would never feel comfortable knowing the guitar in my hands is worth $9500, so it would not be the absolute best for me, but for some other guy, yeah, it just might be. It's very subjective, to each it's own I guess.

Gibson Electric Guitars from 1958-1963 where the best IMO. Something about that stretch that was insane.

That said the finest best sounding guitar I ever played was a beat 1951 Fender No Caster at my buddy Gil Southworths house. It was off the charts good. I should of bought it for the $9500 he offered to me for back in 1995. I have dreams of that guitar.

For modern stuff Suhr and Tom Anderson are neck and neck good.

dude, seriously....any chance you can get my involved in what you do for a living???? LMFAO

outside of something that's on four tires, I never find myself saying 'wow, $9500 is a STEAL' for anything!! ahahahahahah

LOL! :D
I think $9500 for a small condo is a good deal... :D

well, that too =D

A small boat... an RV... LOL! :D

Lets see, if I bought a boat or RV in 1995 it would have depreciated into next to nothing and everytime I used it it would be worth less.

If I bought the Nocaster it would be worth more everytime I played it and be a great investment too. So yeah that particuler Fender was a great deal. I fucked up not getting it  but I made up for it with some others I did get

my fav builder in the world is kenneth lawrence but since you said u wanted a superstrat i will then say that the guys who built my esp kh-20 from the k-custom shop, from what ive been told it was one guy who did that run of guitars and im very impressed. all of my esp customs are from the k-custom shop and i love them, also the stuff from the T-custom shop is pretty amazing too. if you have a K or T serial on your esp custom shop guitars then it was built in those shops.

Like others have said, there is no "best", but rather several choices of top notch builders.

I prefer Anderson over Suhr from a feel standpoint (I own an Anderson as well), but they are both superb instuments. My all time favorite guitars were built by Rand Havener back in the 80's, and he has recently begun building again. If money were no object, I would be having him build me my next custom (they are pretty expensive).

I played a Tyler that I loved, even though it had one of the worst headstocks that I've ever seen. I also recently played a Caparison Horus that I feel is as good as almost anything out there in that price range.

particularly, of the super strat variety
Pointless question. There a tons of great builders who could provide you with your dream super strat. There is no one "best". Pick a builder with a great rep, choose your options and have them build it!

Steve

+1

Whats the best color? What is the best flavour of ice cream? :poke:

How about "What is the best super-strat that YOU have ever played?"

To this question I would answer Caparison followed by my ESP Mirage custom.

I'm not sure about superstrat types, but I'd buy a Soloway sight unseen any day.

Best Guitar Builder: Jesse Hall.

Best Super Strat Builder: Tom Anderson

All of course in my honest opinion.

The one that suits you best are the best, that works for me.
But to find that one in the jungle of all the great guitars today is another thing.

The best playing/sounds guitars ive ever played in my life would have to be Suhr and Anderson easily.

Have you tried the Parker Fly's? They sound terrible but were the easist playing guitars I've ever played. I just ordered a Suhr Modern, without ever playing one. I'm hoping for the best 4 months to wait.

This!!!!

Ive played Suhr's and Andersons and theyre amazing guitars but for me, Im in love with what GMW does. I think that you get alot for the price as well

I own a ton of Super Strats and I dunno about best. They're all variations on a Theme...
Tylers have a super vintage vibe with huge balls, think AMD Mercedes meets tricked out Chevy big block.
Anderson's are precision machines, Lexus comes to mind
Grosh you got the total vinatge vibe, Chevy truck meets Cadillac
Suhr is like a dragster
Rahbek is inbetween the Anderson and Tyler
Vigier are the ones that have the insane chops made easy stuff happening...think Ferrari.
I'm also very partial to Fender...vintage is a no brainer
And current ones..if yo can pick and choose you can still find a honey.

Everything else in the Super Strat dept. that's out there holds out much interest for me...

i love the anderson stuff better than suhr myelf. but as others have mentioned there are probably better smaller companies out there that will make you whatever you want
