Who makes the absolute best guitars?

No one could answer that, there are too many things to take into consideration. I saw guys rip it with some cheapo mexican Fenders or PRS SE. The guitar has certainly a role, but the main thing is the guitar player that's using it. Being in Montreal, yeah, I did try one of those Liberatore guitars, and despite the fact that it was well built, well, it wasn't the "absolute best" to me. The absolute best guitar will be the one you feel comfy with, the one that makes you feel great and the one that inspires you to play, regardless of the name that's on it. I would never feel comfortable knowing the guitar in my hands is worth $9500, so it would not be the absolute best for me, but for some other guy, yeah, it just might be. It's very subjective, to each it's own I guess.

I agree.
Me, too.

On a side note, I really like that foot-switch in your signature. :D

Thanks man! I painted it myself. I always liked the psychedelic style artwork on Eric Clapton's 'The Fool' Gibson SG.

I thought the pedal was cool also ....
.... as well as the amp.

How utterly awesome  look foward to seeing what you do with it mister Bulb, what guage are you going to run on the low F? I've got a 27inch scale 7 string and for B standard I've got a 75 - it may seem abit mental but it gives for such a killer tone in that lower range.

Oh and to have an excuse to post this again - I'm hoping Conklin make the best guitars in the world

FWIW...when it comes to set neck stuff...non Fendery stuff, the O'Donnells are my faves...

Are those your fretlesses? I've really been thinking about getting a fretless in time, however, I here that wooden finger boards = little sustain on lingering still notes...
yes they are, i got a couple of wood and a couple of metal boards and the sustain on either on the plain strings suck unless you play on your nail.

  So the metals not that much better? I've seen some Surfretter vids on youtube and the sustain seems to be fine
