What Flying V would you buy right now?

Gibson/Epi fanboy over here too. The Epi KH in purple sparkle speaks to me because of the finish, pickups, and hard case included.
What tuning are you using that you're this concerned with bridge travel? Pardon my ignorance here, I just don't know what bridge saddle travel means at the end of the day.
I usually play standard tuning with Ernie Ball 10s (yellow regular slinky). I'm not sure why, but both my Epis 90s Korean, and 2004 China need one string at or just near max travel to get the intonation correct. It could be that they have replacement nuts. I bought both used on ebay 20 years ago.

Interesting, thanks for sharing.

The one that got away. I had an Ibanez Rocket Roll Sr, their lawsuit version of the original Flying V. I bought it in the late '90's for $300. Original pickups were missing, so I put a '57 and a '57 Classic + in there. A week later I sold it for $900.

The Kirk Hammett LTD V also seems to go used around $1k if you want something a bit more colourful than the rest of the LTD line. I haven't played an Epiphone in years so can't really say much of their current line though I did try out the Kramer Mustaine V when it came out but the action was an inch off the fretboard so it may actually have been decent once set up properly.

The red and gold one? I know a guy with one! I kinda forgot about that along with Arrows when I made the OP. Good call, thanks.

You and @Frehley12 both recommended a Jackson. For some reason, I never gravitate toward them when looking at guitars. Why them over LTD, Schecter, Epiphone, etc?
Feel free to be rude cause I'm ignorant as fuck here. Thanks!

I have a faded gibson flying V, that I love. I have not had any of the Epiphones, I did have an Epiphone les paul standard when I was much younger, and I remember really liking that guitar but that was years before I bought my first MIA guitar so I didn't really have a frame of reference to compare them to.

I bought a Jackson USA soloist early last year and it has become a strong contender for my #1, it just feels great and plays great and I just absolutely love it.

I have always been a fan of the jackson rhoads, I have never owned one but I really do want one, that would be my main pull towards one.

Here's a Jimi Hendrix Flying V I spotted on Reverb. Looks amazing, but don't know how good the fit and finish are. $849.

If you can swing it, look into a LTD MK-600 as well. I love the look of the guitar, and it's equivalent to the 1000 series of LTD axes, which are really well built.

The Epiphone Dave Mustaine Custom V is a better looking, sounding, and playing guitar than the Jackson. That's why I praised it. I knocked on the Jackson because of the quality. I included the Jackson because it was in the picture with the Epi Mustaine. I forgot to include the wonky input jack on the Jackson too. So on the Jackson, the stock locking tuners are crap, the bridge has "soft" metal, and the input jack needs tweaking or a replacement with a Switchcraft jack. At least on mine it does. I don't care. I love the Mustaine. I like the Jackson as it would be a guitar that I can do surgery on and learn repairs, setups etc. I would not recommend the Jackson.

Appreciate you. I'm not big on red to begin with, so you can delete if you want lol.
I gotta keep Diablo on my radar more. I see some cool shit from that shop, including an Olive Drab Gibson. Those seem real nice.

This is a great review of the Jackson lol. I do love what you have to say about the Mustaine and if I'm considering signature guitars from guys I don't give a shit about, it's right up there with the Kirk Hammett lol.

Since your budget is around $1k have you looked at the Epiphone Kirk Hammett V?

Yeah, I love that it has Gibson pickups and I absolutely love the purple finish on it. It seems like you can find deals around 900 for em.
