I usually play standard tuning with Ernie Ball 10s (yellow regular slinky). I'm not sure why, but both my Epis 90s Korean, and 2004 China need one string at or just near max travel to get the intonation correct. It could be that they have replacement nuts. I bought both used on ebay 20 years ago.Gibson/Epi fanboy over here too. The Epi KH in purple sparkle speaks to me because of the finish, pickups, and hard case included.
What tuning are you using that you're this concerned with bridge travel? Pardon my ignorance here, I just don't know what bridge saddle travel means at the end of the day.

The Kirk Hammett LTD V also seems to go used around $1k if you want something a bit more colourful than the rest of the LTD line. I haven't played an Epiphone in years so can't really say much of their current line though I did try out the Kramer Mustaine V when it came out but the action was an inch off the fretboard so it may actually have been decent once set up properly.
You and @Frehley12 both recommended a Jackson. For some reason, I never gravitate toward them when looking at guitars. Why them over LTD, Schecter, Epiphone, etc?
Feel free to be rude cause I'm ignorant as fuck here. Thanks!
I'm not going to tell you, it's already hard enough to find the guitars I like![]()
The Epiphone Dave Mustaine Custom V is a better looking, sounding, and playing guitar than the Jackson. That's why I praised it. I knocked on the Jackson because of the quality. I included the Jackson because it was in the picture with the Epi Mustaine. I forgot to include the wonky input jack on the Jackson too. So on the Jackson, the stock locking tuners are crap, the bridge has "soft" metal, and the input jack needs tweaking or a replacement with a Switchcraft jack. At least on mine it does. I don't care. I love the Mustaine. I like the Jackson as it would be a guitar that I can do surgery on and learn repairs, setups etc. I would not recommend the Jackson. You and @Frehley12 both recommended a Jackson. Since your budget is around $1k have you looked at the Epiphone Kirk Hammett V?
