What's the lowest you'll take?

Cant really blame anyone for TRYING...right? What's the worst that could happen? "No".

I see it as it comes with the territory. You just so know there's gonna be some jackasses. I suppose it's why eBay is still successful even with their shit....the process is mostly automatic. Though I did have one guy ask me continuous questions about a USA Hamer...such as "do ya think I will like it?" Sheesh. PITA.

I do like the idea of upping the price for dildos....lol

If someone asked me that I'd tell em they'll LOVE it...

I like the asking price comeback. Easy way to deal with it!

nothing wrong with that question if you ask me.
Many times I've cut through the chase and told the buyer what the lowest I'll take is, especially if I like the buyer and I just want to move an item. I've asked that as a buyer as well, just to avoid the whole I bid low you bid high dance. Simplifies things for all. If you dont want to show your cards then give a number that is above your lowest or, say "sorry, my price is fixed" or go with the OPs response of "fuck you, jsut for asking $50 extra"......

A guy I used to know had a good line for such events:

customer: "What's your best deal on this?"
him: "For me? Raising the price another hundred bucks"

I had a guy email me asking for pictures of a LP I am selling. Asked for all the info, etc etc. "OK, I will be by tomorrow to try it out".
This is Sunday night. Monday morning I get a text saying that he can't make it, and tried to sell me his 1971 LP Custom... WTF?

Monday afternoon I get another text from another dude. Asked for more pictures, details, etc. "Does it come with the case?" Yes... "OK, great. What's your best price?" Since it is a really cheap price, I told him I didn't want to go any lower.
"Ok... What's the best price without the hard case?"

WTF??!!!

So I have a spare case for a LP, and you have a bargain LP with no case?

ARGH!!! Either you can afford to the buy the item or not! If you want to lower the price, at least give me your damn figure!
You're not buying a multi-billion corporation. Quit fucking around and just tell me what you are willing to pay for it.

I think asking "what's the lowest you can take"?, comes off as stupid and classless. That said, it is a buyer's market, especially when it comes to guitars. I typically ask something like "Can you do any better on the price"?, and then go from there.

This is a pretty decent read on haggling -

Actually, there are a lot of good articles on that site.

"What's the lowest you'll take?"

Answer: Well it depends, with or without a reach-around? :D

I just ask the lowest price I well take in the beginning usually.

Yup....same for me. I usually make it rock bottom and never any haggling.
Every time I sold stuff in the past it moved quick with no discussion.
When guys ask a Higher price then they know it can sell for.....well.....it opens up doors for this.
Then again on the other side....I could ask $1.00 for something....and some asshat will ask if I would take Fifty cents.

$5 and grade A pocket lint washed with bounty and snuggles
