i have a few random pieces of gear people left in my possession 20+ years ago now, a couple are from people i still talk to and remind every few years i still have, and wouldnt get rid of without asking them first if they want it back, but a few are from people i havent and wont be speaking to. At what point, if at all, is that stuff officially mine?? not talking anything worth more than a couple hundred bucks tops

You should contact them, and offer to sell the gear back to them.

I’ve known dudes that kicked dudes out of bands, told them come get their shit Wednesday and if they didn’t it was gone by Friday morning lol

It varies by state and local laws, but abandoned property be claimed within days in some cases. My local laws say I would have to make an inventory of abandoned items, contact the original owner, and set a deadline. "Come get your fucking bass by Wednesday or I'm pawning it for crack." is enough to meet legal requirements and legally own the property Thursday morning.

know a guy that lost a late 80's 2203 half stack like that ..........they sold it to a pawn shop for pennies on the dollar

I never left shit anywhere ....... unless I knew for sure it was a solid thing .... and even then it was just a 4 x 12 cab I didn't want to lug three times a week .... never would I leave an amp

I doubt there is any state that wouldn't consider it all to be legally your property. And jeez I doubt they even remember having any of it by now. Legally and morally your property now, I say.

I’d mail it back to them immediately no questions asked. I’m not selling gear I didnt buy that I don’t have proof of purchase other than possession.

I personally wouldn’t open the door to any reason for retaliation or situational manipulation.
