Which of these 2 amps would you choose?

Can't speak for the 101b but I have the Ecstasy Classic and I did the Cameron mod to it and it's a killer amp. Not as hot as my Uberschall (REV blue) obviously but is extremely versatile which is what I love about it. Only thing I would trade it off for would be a Diezel. But I would always have to have one Bogner in the stable. Great sounding well built amps that just do what they are supposed to.

We did a corporate gig yesterday and I used my PWE EH3. The amp cuts like a knife through the mix and believe it or not.....it didn't blow up. :D

Where's the Richedie Clause of Conduct on this post?

Never spent any time with a PWE... I am a fan of Bogners though.
Same

I have had an Ecstasy for about a year and a half. So far I've been fairly happy with it. Occasionally I'll get the urge to sell it, but that's often wanting to see if the grass is greener on the other side. I'd wanted a Bogner amp for a long time and I'm really happy I took the plunge and bought one. I have no experience with the PWE unfortunately.

Does your XTC fx loop take pedals well?

Hey buddy!

I have used a bunch of pedals in the effects loop (Strymon El Capistan, Diamond ML Junior, TC Corona Chorus, etc) with zero issue. I've also tried a few multi-efx units in there which work great. If the loop is designed not to work well with pedals... I'm not hearing it. If you decide to get the Bogner, have a good couple read-throughs of the manual... it will tell you all you need to know! :)

I'd go PWE
Bogner- owned 3, sold 3
PT-100- also owned and didn't like.

What about the PT-100 did you not like?

It was way too bassy. The character of the distortion didn't sound good (to me)

I just picked up a PT-100 and certainly wouldn't call it overly bassy. With the Whomp switch on full I could see that, but I find mine to have great bass response.

The distortion character is a little different and takes some time to get used to but over all it's a killer amp!

I have owned both the PT100 and Bogner XTC, both are great amps IMHO and you would not go wrong with either one of them. The PT100 being more Marshall like of the two. However the low mid growl the XTC has is very pleasing and dialed in correctly cuts fine in a mix.

The PT100 is only overly bassy if you dial it in that way, I have heard Marshalls with mods that could be overly bassy if dialed in that way. I am guessing Pete Thorn and Lukather both cut in the band mix, or maybe they don't realize they cannot be heard..... LOL

I have nothing negative to say about the PWE, never heard one and I do not know anybody that plays them where I can get the chance to. Good luck with your choice.

Yeah, good call guys. 40 years playing, yet I guess I don't know how to turn the Bass down on an amp

1 Year or 40 years if you were not able to dial the bass out of the PT100 then that is confusing. All kidding aside, right along side a few marshalls the tone could be dialed in very close to them at some very sweet settings. Tone is subjective, so YMMV.

Not trying to say you cannot dial in an amp, just saying the bass can be dialed out of the PT100.

I shopped around for 12 years for a replacement (something I like as much or better and because I wanted an amp with a loop) for my 72 JMP and chose the Bogner 20th anniversary Ecstasy. Its a killer amp! especially on a stage! My amp rewards me every time I take it to a gig.

Man... having played though just about all the "big name" and "boutique" amps I could find over the past 20 yrs....

Nothing.. and I mean NOTHING beats my Bogner XTC

Just my .02 cents...
