Wow... why didn't anyone tell me these sound so good? I've been interested in these since they were released, but I'm not a big John Petrucci fan... not a chaser of the holy Mesa Mark IIC+ tone or amps... but this amp sounds really, really killer. I've owned the MKIII Blue stripe, MKIVB, and MKV... but this is a better sounding, more functional, amp than any of those for me. I did like the MKV the most of the others though... but the IIC+ mode sounded nothing like this. Really tight, articulate, focused high-gain tones... liquid smooth leads... great clean-clean-clean channel... a functional pedal friendly fx loop... midi switching... and it sounds amazing at low volumes (which was somewhat of a concern going in)... what's not to love. I'm not a Mark series amp fan historically... I much prefer the Rectos, of which I've owned many, and still love and enjoy my multi-watt Triple Recto... but this is one great little tone machine. And to top it all off it has gobs of gain... I mean with the gain and presence pots pulled on channels 2/3 and the shred mode on... you can get more gain than you'll ever need... which is something I always look for in amp. No such thing as having too much on tap. And no overdrive pedal or eq needed. Killer amp.

Sounds particularly killer with this btw... BBR7 SD Jazz/Distortion pups:

A couple a lesser known vids incase anyone is interested in the feature run down...

Awesome score man. Congratulations. I assume you've used a Mark V before. If so, how does it compare?

Congrats! My opinion as well. The amp is KILLER. I got one a few weeks ago.

Awesome a fellow JP2C owner. It's such an incredible amp, enjoy good sir!

I've often thought of buying one to pair with my Soldano Avenger.

If you're serious, I'm currently selling mine ;)

I have been somewhat interested in the JP2C since it was released, but it would mean I would have to give up my venerable Mark IVA and since I haven't found a JP2C to try out, I have just kept with what I have.

Unlike the mark IV and V where I see mixed reviews the JP2C has gotten many positive reviews.

As someone that does like the Mark series tone a lot, that also owns a Triaxis rig, should I sell it and buy the JP2C? The only reason that I hang on to the Triaxis is that it does the Mark sound really well, the clean sounds are amazing, and it's midi switchable (probably the biggest factor, though stereo is pretty amazing).

Great amp, i love it.
If i could only own one amp it would be a jp2c.

If anyone's looking for one hit me up. I'll cut you a good deal. Great amp, I just don't use it much.

Thanks guys. Really amazing variety of tones in this little box. Great cleans and very good fx loop too. I really like the idea of having 2 identical but tweakable lead channels. Genius.

Oddly enough I've been debating whether or not to pickup a Triaxis & 2:90. Never owned one so I'd like to give it a go. Not sure how much pure tone I'd give up for the versatility. It still has some ardent supporters even after all these years... so that has to say something.

I feel like the Mesa Triaxis has it's own thing going on. It gets very close to the actual amps, but they have a little different feel - in a good way. I use mine with either a Mesa Strategy 400 or an early spec ('90) Mesa 50/50 power amp.

I Wish I could but my expenses need my attention before I purchase anything else at this point.

The Wizard strikes again

Congrats man; sounds like your diggin it!

Damn, I'm torn between a JP2C and a 20th Shiva and was leaning Shiva...now I'm back to being completely unsure. The correct answer must be...both.

How is the Triaxis with the 2:90? Or is the Strategy 400 simply that much better? I'd like to get one... but don't have much use for a stereo power amp... unless I want to do the wet-dry thing with 2 4X12s. Slightly overkill for me.
:D

I Feel your pain....I love the tone of both amps but for what I play, neither of them makes sense for me to purchase right now. Even owning an Avenger is really more than I need for my life/playing since I don't play out any longer.
