2 channel triple rectifier VS early Dual Tremoverb

T-verb is my favorite Recto, and I pretty much play only Metal... FANTASTIC amps.

Man, the Trem-O-Verb is a great amp. Probably the only amp I have some GAS for right now.

There's a Guitar Center video interview of Hetfield where he's playing straight into a Trem-O-Verb with his sig ESP. Just noticed Stephen Sawall posted part of that. I think Het's EMG's play a big role on this one.

Here's Ola Englund with a Trem-O-Verb:

I find it amazing the variety of folks that used the Trem-O-Verb as a core part of their backline.

Lindsay Buckingham - saw Fleetwood Mac in 2013 and Buckingham had a rack full of Trem-O-Verbs behind him.
Jeff Buckley - used a Vibroverb and Trem-O-Verb
Soundgarden (almost all of Superunknown was recorded through Trem-O-Verbs).
Mike Einziger (SCIENCE, Make Yourself, and Morningview are all Trem-O-Verb... and I consider SCIENCE to be a great metal album).

2 channel Triples are great amps, but for whatever reason when I think of that amp, I think of Tom DeLonge... and I hate Blink 182.

I know you said you're not looking for versatility, but one thing I consider with the Trem-O-Verb is that it will grow with you, if/as your tastes change. Country? Blues? Jazz? Hard rock? Metal?

The Trem-O-Verb is there to help you sound great doing any of it.

\m/ \m/

Had a Rev G dual and a Verb side by side at one point...if the TV wasn't a bitch ass combo that weighed a million pounds, I probably would've kept it.

Owned triple rectifiers and sold them off. Still have my Trem-o-verb and always will.

I've had my Tremoverb almost 25 years. I have played on at least 60 Rectifiers. Tremoverb is the one for me. The Red mode, Bold, Silicon Diodes is aggressive.

Totally agree.

So far after playing my tremoverb which has the nice transformers, attached power cord etc vs the 2 chan triple rectifier, which has mercury magnetics OT upgrade, I think I'm liking the triple much more....by quite a margin. I might end up selling the tremoverb after some more testing

This thread got me off my ass and into the basement to fire up the T-Verb. Due to horrendous allergies I haven’t played in a few weeks. Plugged in a cheap LP special knockoff I got recently and fucking fell in love with it all over again. Love the sweep on the gain knob on Orange. The clean setting gets the perfect level of grunt and clang when you get the gain up and it has one of the most useful and tasty reverbs I’ve heard on an amp. A little slap back and it’s a rockabilly machine.
I need to get another one so I can have one with 34’s in it as the dirty side gets quite different. It curtails the majesty of the cleaner settings though so need 6L6’s for the best overall amp.

Try JJE34L's. The bite of an EL34 with the low end of a 6L6. I absolutely love them in a lot of amps including my mesa mkiv.

Yeah, I’m familiar with them. Even with them the character of the cleans changes enough where 6L6’s go back in. I slightly prefer the dirt with 34’s but have a Few 34 based amps already. If I stick with one TVerb I want to have that unadulterated recto tone as it stands apart from my other amps.

The flip side is I have 34’s in my MKV because I primarily just use the OD tones across all channels which improved a lot putting 34’s in.

I put GE 6L6 in my Tremoverb and it smoothed out the highs and made the bottom fatter.

Nice! I cannot justify using my NOS tubes on a regular basis. I have eight RCA 6L6's that tested pretty much brand new that I managed to snag for next to nothing. They are in my tube drawer nicely wrapped in foam until I decide to use them for a special day. Lol. I have some vintage Phillips and GE too that tested pretty good, they are also nicely wrapped up for a good day.

I have a quad of RCA's in one of my fenders that have been in there forever that I use regularly.

I do regularly use old Mullard and Jan and GE, etc. in some amps for normal use though. I have no problem using big dollar pres though.

matching NOS power tubes are getting harder to come by and exponentially more expensive.
