This poll for me was really hard to answer. I did it from a gigging perspective where I used a fat strat as my main guitar and had an LP as a backup, but there were some songs or sets when I would switch to the LP. I had a 3rd tele with dual coil split humbuckers that was a downtuned or drop D guitar.

However at home I have 2 LPs, 3 strats, etc. So I have backups that are similar, but different enough. I rotate through them at home, but its also nice to have an LP at the practice space and one at home. Anymore with playing at church, I tend to keep my main Strat and LP in the case so they are ready to go and practice on my backup guitars.

Well, I went with "different model but close in specs" as my two gigging guitars are Charvels, a Pro Mod San Dimas w/ SD pickups and a Model 3dr 1987 w/ a DiMarzio Super Distortion in the bridge position (the neck pup's there just for cosmetics).

I've felt I don't like to change the sound or the feel of the guitars during a gig, but this is abt to change in the foreseeable future ;) . The main reason is my major GAS for a nice LPC. But that's a completely different story.

Identical.
Different finishes, same pickups and neck profile.

same here. flamed redwood, quilted maple, cracked mirror, custom rust paint. but all the same neck profile and pickup.
