Perfect example of how it's all in the hands and ears of the individual player....the CCV is probably my favorite "do it all' amp, ever, but clearly it's not for everyone.

I was just foolin'

Just trying to take this "leading" thread somewhere fast ;) I'm suprised it took that long.

I really like all the clips I've heard. I'm hoping the CCV will be my next amp.

Blue Voodoo. Never was entirely happy with mine, and the more I learned/heard the more stale it felt.
;)
+1 on this. I played thru one at a guitar competition I entered, and I have never played thru a stiffer tube amp.

Heard Marty Friedman at a guitar workshop play through a BORROWED stock Blue Voodoo head and matching cab. Not my cup of tea, but then I watched him from 10 feet away blast through tons of megadeth and other solos and it sounded great. Was dry because it was guitar > amp no effects, but I was amazed.

It's a poor carpenter that blames his tools.

Fortin NATAS for me. It just sounds too dry.

Did you own one?

Nope, I've only heard clips. And I don't mean to claim expertise on the amp, its just a lot of the records and clips I've heard with it being used sound super dry and too modern.

Amps are made of plastic, metal and have glass in them. None of them have soul.

Either you can play or you can't.

Just a heads up. For me anyway, most emotion and soul is expressed through vibrato and pick attack.

It's funny....I think most people have a REALLY hard time understanding how it's possible for someone to NOT like something they love so much....I've watched it lead to more internet arguments than I care to remember :D

Me? I just like what works for me

I would name a few, but the butt-hurt would be to much to contend with

Yes...many of these would have to be issued...

This thread is already ridiculous and headed for pure internet awesomeness. Awaiting more comedy as it goes on!

Not everyone will gel with every amp but come on!! only pass a judgement on amps you've actually owned....if not STFU!!!

It's a poor carpenter who uses inferior tools because the toolmaker is paying him to. ;)

The amp is bland. It sounds generic. That a virtuoso sounded good through it doesn't mean he wouldn't have sounded better through almost anything else.

5150
Randall SS series
Crate
A couple of Carvins, sorry Stevie
Krank (blech!!)
A lot of the Traynor series amps, but oddly enough, they mic real well...

Ya, that's about it off the top of my head. And it's solely personal... That's a given.

its the player who has no soul, don't blame the amps ;)

If it's only the player that determines "soul", then we would all have saved tons of dough and a few marriages by sticking to our peavey bandits. It's ok to feel some amps have it and some don't.....what's the big deal?

Yup, I have blamed amps before due to my inability and it was dumb.

Good Lord...The question isn't "Amps that make you play or sound better?"....This thread is loosing "Soul" quickly!

most people say the krank krankenstein+ has no soul and sounds like shit so i would put it on the list of souless amps, if we are talking about what the general population agrees upon.

my personal opinion differs quite a bit though, because i have found my best tones with that amp. I have owned everything from mesa's to splawn's, to a 5150 III and everything in between just about. they all sounded good but didnt get me the exact tone i was after. i get complimented on my tone all the time until people walk up to my rig and see whats sitting there. people absolutely love it till they read the krank logo on the front of my amp and then say "oh, i didnt know it was a krank"  .
