Another dilemma by Mike - The end (for now)

A Jose and an Aldrich mod kick some ass too. The CCV was killer too.

I had severe GAS for a BE100. Owning a CCV and reading this thread may have cured the GAS. Thanks, Mike. First time this forum has cured, rather than created, my GAS.

The CCV is truly an awesome amp.

I went the opposite way. :dunno:

Different strokes. :D The CCV is a damn good amp. I'm sure you wouldn't go wrong with the BE either. Seeing as I have a CCV here...

The most mystifying part of this thread to me, is that anyone can't get the tell the differences between the CCV and Friedman; totally and completely different feel, sound, and response.

Agree. I would consider both amps to be in the same domain, but definitely different.

Simple, most players have a tone in their head they try to recreate with whatever amp they play. Two modified marshall's are going to sound much alike when dialed into personal taste. Despite both heads come out of the same shop, they both are built very different.

I agree with JCJ, I defiantly thought the two amps sounded way different. I prefered the feel and tone of the Friedman over the CCV, but this is just my own preferance. I think you should keep the CCV and BE-100 and sell the modded Friedman Marshall.

Wait a minute! Your BE is offered up for sale as well!?

So that means you currently have all three of your amps listed at once! What if offers are made on all three at once?.....Will you sell 'em all?.....

The indecision continues...... ;)

I get that....

Have you played both?

You couldn't make my Aldrich sound like my Jose and vice versa no matter what you do. Completely different in many ways. The CCV is Jose inspired.

No argument, here....I wasn't trying to make a "better or worse" statement, just baffled that one would think they're close, in terms of feel, response, and sound....not similar, at all, to me.

Well, I am baffled here too. I have both amps and everyone that has heard them agrees the CCV and Be are similar sounding amps.

Here is what we have found:
The CCV on channel one can sound just like the BE on the BE input with Sat.
The CCV on channel 2 can sound similar to HBE channel on the BE. Not the same, similar.
The BE clean is a winner, it is the best clean tone I have ever owned.
The CCV is darker and a little more articulate, the BE while the bottom end is tight has more of a Marshall looseness.

I expected more of a difference between them. I was thinking an apple to orange difference. Both taste good but they taste different. The CCV and BE are more like 2 different types of apples, at least to us. The Friedman Marshall is like the BE, the clean channel is not as warm, but still good.

There is no question they are all fantastic amps and I wish I could keep all 3.

with me. Of course there are differences

I do not really expect to sell the BE, I do want to make the point that the modded Marshall is one heck of an amp.

I have one buyer for the CCV, if he craps out I will pull it and focus on selling the Marshall. So not quite so indecisive as it looks

I think I should take a ride to hear them side by side myself.

I am very interested in your modded Marshall. Got some sales going on right now. If you still have it in a week I’d like to check it out. I could bring a couple amps that will mess up your head a little more!

Yeah, having owned both, they are miles apart. Both excellent amps though in their own space. The BE is several modded Marshall's in a box and is designed to cover the variety. It is sort of the Swiss army knife for Marshall types. Some footswitchable functions would really make it shine though and value the amp a bit better. The CCV needs room to stretch. Once you get the volume up, it really shines like a diamond in a goats ass and holds together at any volume, which sets it apart from some of the others. This is where that 560V B+ comes into play.

Neither of these amps cost anywhere near what the MSRP is. It's all market driven. But, what's important is that it suits you and makes you happy at the end of the day.

Steve
