Just posted this @ TGP, figured I'd cross post it here...
I guess I'll spell out my 2 cents worth a story here...
Got the black box last April, started gigging it in August. Mind you I had 20 amps, and a rack with Eventide and TC gear, and all the pedals in a looper.
I started with it slowly replacing EVERYTHING in the rack other than power amps/mixer. Started selling off stuff I never thought I'd sell. Then I started seriously messing with the amp sims. And ended up making it my main gig rig last Summer, given that was through a VHT 2-50-2 power amp a THD cab with Heritage 65s or one with Heritage Golds in it. I've done over 100 shows with it. Since then I've done 3 shows with a "regular" set-up. One with an amp that was fun but not my thng for gigs, 2 with my old Marshalls with a M13 in front. The guys in my money gig told me last week to not bring anything but the Axe rack to the gigs.
Also, I just finished my new CD less is seldom more which will be out in like 2 weeks. And 90% of all my guitars were done with the Axe stright to hard disk.
I use either something gained out into a power amp, like a high gain head, or a non master head dimed into a load into a power amp. Or loud amps clean with stompboxes.
Well, the Axe takes care of the majority of this, what it doesn't do is my small Class A stuff, like the UniValve. Which I load down and slave through the Axe in parallel with the internal amp sims when I want it.
I finally broke down realizing that it does for me what I need and I sold last week alone a dozen amps.
And to take this a step further, my iso cabs I use in my studio are likely gonna be goners here as well.
Bottom line, I have no issue with folks not digging that box, all I know is that after about a year I still feel in the honey moon phase.
Presets...scrolled through them found some interesting ones but in the end the only ones worth anything to me are the ones I dialed for my needs.
