I can see he made some mistakes from a marketing point of view, but hey he can play. He is one of the hardest working guys out there as far as I can see. He studied a lot bout the origins of his music (have seen some videos he discusses some of the old masters). And he basically built up an business machine working very well. So he for sure deserves respect.

One thing I don't get though. Most YT Clips have a killer guitar tone, but most of his recordings (to my ears) his guitar sounds like all highs are missing. No brilliance at all, very muffled. Don't get that. I got better lately, but some of his older stuff is lacking so much (again: to my ears). Is that just me?

I \don't get the hate. He works his ass of playing more nights a week than most do in a month. He destroys pretty much every guitar and amp he plugs in to and has an awesome sense of nuance. Music rocks - there's no room for hate. If you don't like the genre, tune in to a different vibe...

I've been a JB fan for a long time - zero hate here - just full on respects and I love the dude's playing, period. He kills it. With steez at that!!

You are correct. He doesn't like true bypass wahs so that sucks tone for one. He does seem to favor a more muffled tone these days.

Hope he will change that anytime. Would make it much more enjoyable to my ears. But of course that's a pure matter of personal preference. Might be more people prefer his sounds as it's less aggressive. I'm a child of the 80s with Loudness correction everywhere ;-)

It works great when he plays Strats but his tone is too muffled for me with the Lesters.
