I think Mick Sweda back in the band is what has given them some life. That guy has great chops and always had a good ear for tone. Really awesome vibrato and interesting rythm chops as opposed the standard. Really liked them back in the day. If I'm guessing, he is a boosted Marshall guy. No frills, bit of chorus and some delay on the lead and the rest is straight up elbow grease.

But Marq is always on, he would have been an awesome DLR replacement back in the day.

I've been friends with the drummer and his older brother since we were teens. I support them whenever they are in town. But, the music really isn't my cup o tea.... I'm not a fan of the drop tuning. Sounds so loose and indistinct.... YMMV...

The lead playing was a bit off here but I think it is because he moves around during the leads but I thought he's still got the chops, just a bad clip I guess. Dig the live tone though. Also yes Mark is a very good lead player , there's clips of him doing mean streets and other stuff. I think he was considered for the Ozzy gig too according to the folklore. ( Before Jake ) Someone said they heard him playing bark at the moon before Jake was in the band .. it is on this site somewhere. The thread was ages ago.

Yep, I like Mark's playing more. He was monster in our local scene when we were in our teens. I played in a cover band with Jimmy's older bro for a short while. We still get together from time to time after all these years....

Their first 3 albums were very good. In particular, Freakshow is killer.

Steve Henning told that story; where he and his other guitar player(or roommate, can't remember) went to tour the Charvel/Jackson factory and Grover gave them a tour...and pointed out Marq who was tearing it up with his new free(Ozzy purchased) Charvel. Grover told them "there's Ozzy's new guitar player!" and he was just killing it, playing amazing stuff effortlessly and also started playing the intro to Bark at the Moon..
He said that drug problems were rumored to be the reason he didn't actually play for Ozzy in the end.

I'm afraid to listen to the clip because I just want to remember the albums. Right on SooooRad. Agreed

Ted Templeton did a great job with their first album....brought a lot of Van Halen swagger to them.
Yep

I was at this exact show. M3 festival just a few weeks ago. Bullet Boys were ok. Not great but they didn't suck either. Winger played the same day and put on a much better show.
Then Accept came on and pulverized everybody. Best of the night by miles and one of the best shows in recent memory.

Sounded pretty rough to me.
I actually turned down a working band last week which was weird cuz i intially told them i was onboard but having slept on it next morning i turned it down for various reasons.
I had 3 bands since 2019 crap out due to the pandemic and at this point after 45 years the cons of playing out are out-weighing the pros.
But i still love to play. Just doesn't have the same appeal anymore.
There's a 360%+ increase in covid cases here and no sign of going down.

I thought it was great. Live rock n roll - not supposed to be perfect to me. I also love Mick Sweda's tone and playing. Freakshow is my fav record by them and his tone is killer on that album. Glad to see them back together but who knows how long it will last ha. I was surprised Mark's voice was as good as it was after all these years

Same. Maybe I am getting soft in my old age but I liked how raw and unpolished it was. Fuck ups happen gig to gig there will be rough spots but no doubt Sweda has great vibrato and wrote some awesome riffs. Mark is a flashy fast player but phrasing wise sounds a dime a dozen, Sweda has more groove which is probably why he was the main guy. Not as many of these guys from this era had a real greasy groove going on. Lynch has that sort of thing happening too.

Yeah I liked Sweda's tones too especially on Freakshow. That record sounds glorious to me. Songs were cool too. Wish they would have come out sooner in time. I think they might have lasted longer and maybe grew into something more refined - but maybe not.
