I take the word of Jim yes and he is an expert and not just as word but as fact.

I can't argue with him or pretend to in regards to these being 25 watts or not. I concede in good faith and discretion in trust in him. He's the man.


I will say who knows how warranty would hold up aftermarket of course running a 25 watt amp into a 112 or a 50 watt amp into a 212 given the official rating and that remains a valid and sound point.


Unless you're fully cranking it for hours or something and not responsible or negligent on that end......

I'm a contractor. I follow the bylaws of the city I'm working so I don't have problems with different building codes. Different countries have different laws regarding consumer products. It shouldn't be hard for a person to draw parallels with that.

No underreporting or overreporting allowed in Ontario, Canada according to the ESA.

How Celestion gets around that I do not know.

As an electrician of 15+ years in Ontario, I strongly encourage you to quit while you're ahead. Lol. The OEC and CEC literally mandate understating ratings ranging from 80-300 % in damn near every application involving anything beyond class ii voltages.

They let uneducated buffoons install 13,200V primary lines to serve your neighbourhood. If they give a singular fuck about guitar speakers, you should be gravely concerned.

When it comes to the wattage I don't believe anyone can argue with Jim or say he is wrong in anyway, nor he or others who care to listen to what he has to say and trust him and others in the industry. Jim is the man.


Officially yes these say something else but I just can't say no to Jim or argue with him over that or anything else he brings to the conversation in invaluable wisdom and knowledge. That shouldn't be taken for granted.

I will say as far as the warranty shit goes aftermarket if you are buying them single or in pairs who fucking knows right but when it comes to Jim here I can't argue with a legend and tell him he don't know or I know better than him and hell if Mark Sampson told me my amp is actually 60 watts and not 50 despite the manual after this I said I wouldn't but I would listen to Sampson.

I really wasn't expecting Jim to come in or did imagine maybe someone quoting him but all in all he's the guy with the key to the Chocolate Factory pretty much..... The rest of us are just Charlie....... And I've listened to so many hours of Greenbacks and I love my Celestions but without a doubt IMO he makes probably the closest thing to the real deal in a time capsule.


In general too many know I love the EVH cabs despite this thread and I even talked a lot about it a couple weeks ago in a similar crazy thread and hats off too Eddie to up in heaven and RIP, check these out too, speakers and cabs from him. Dude knew what he was doing and he was no Bozo.
