I hear you. Sorry for your loss. I will note however: illegal immigrants have markedly lower crime rates than US citizens, as do legal immigrants.

To be honest, I would suggest something that people don't really like. I would suggest that it wasn't illegal to kill criminals. I think that if you are walking down the street, and people try to rob you, you are allowed to kill them with prejudice. I think that death has a finality that litigation does not. Take the war to the densest populated cities where it isn't "safe" to walk. Set up stings and attack actual criminals. This is a small step in the right direction that I think should be implemented with bigger ideas, but I think it atleast would be a start.

I lived in places where a person took care of themselves and the cops wouldn't come at night. If you are wanting protection from police...it just isn't happening. Not at night anyway. If you live in your cushy mansion of a gated community, you may not have this experience, but there it is. I remember also walking down the side streets in new orleans and seeing people in the shadows waiting for a weaker individual to walk by to jump out and accost. It is an ugly world out there and it doesn't get cleaned up by background checks.

For the life of me, i have never understood why cops are pulling over people going a few mph over the speed limit or not wearing seatbelts, but don't actually go where the crime is unless called.

I once was sitting in my truck at a crack motel with a shotgun in my lap. I had the window down and two gentlemen came up and one pulled a knife. They asked for my wallet. I brought the gun up and asked for theirs. I wish i could have just taken those two out of this world, but I didn't really want to go to prison for them, so i settled for what I could get.

Interesting idea. Sounds like it would lead to chaos of unprovoked murder. "He tried to rob me". Simple defense to take anyone out you don't like, right?

obviously, there could be problems with the implementation. However, wouldn't it be nice if we took the war to the street criminals? I would do it for free.

For sure. I tend to have empathy for these people who are escaping terrible situations, going through hell to make a better life for their families. I don't think they would do that unless they were totally desperate. But that's just me. I understand your perspective as well.
 
I remember once in my twenties, I ran to the convenience store to grab a lighter. There were four guys (later, i found out gang members) standing around when I got back. They didn't like the way I pulled into my parking spot and I got to fight the guys. I held my own decently, but i ended up with a bit of blood in my mouth (busted lip pretty good).

I had a gun on me, but didn't really want to deal with the cops, so I didn't pull it and tried to fight them the best I could.

This is such an annoying situation. I don't think law abiding citizens should have to deal with nonsense like this, and be crippled by dumb laws. But that is just me.

Can back this up as true…

I turned 18 in March, filled out my application (this is before the internet) and collected my letters from non family members to get my conceal carry permit.

Just before Thanksgiving I got my permit.

Lost it due to stupidity years later.

I went thru real estate classes 15 years later and crushed the exam just to have NYS tell me I can’t hold a real estate license.

Funny I still have a Class A license with HAZMAT endorsement that I utilize today…

Cops get there fast and witness what’s going down.

Guy gets an appearance ticket. Go figure…
