Classifieds WAAY overpriced...

There's a badass modded JCM800 2203 RI at a local GC for $1599 that comes with a receipt for $1000 worth of VoodooMods. If someone is looking for exactly those mods, that's a great price. Unmodded in perfect shape, those go for $1300-$1500 all the time, and I have been watching them on eBay and Reverb. If what I'm selling were a common thing, I'd have more to go on, but they're not common. Sure, you can buy a clean Ceriatone for less, but you'll spend more if you want a real JMP headshell. I'd say the unmolested Marshall chassis is worth something too. It's not an amp for everyone. But like when I was selling a left-handed 6mm rifle for $600, it was hard to find someone who wanted both a 6mm and left-handed version of it. But when I found that person, he was overjoyed and was the perfect buyer.

That is a good price for that. I had a Voodoo Jose 1959, great amp.

Rick, sell it for what you want man. I hope you get it!

I love the posts in the main forum like "Thinking about selling my Helios..." or whatever. A few days later there it is in the classifieds. Nice free advertisement on the main forums before the inevitable For Sale ad in the Classifieds.

I'm fine with admitting I was bitching. I would buy any of the guitars that I posted if they were priced anywhere close to in line with market pricing for similar guitars. I'm pissed I can't buy them for what they are worth!

Not sure how relevant this is, but does anyone know why listings on eBay or Reverb from countries like Japan, Italy, or Spain can seem to cost twice as much or more compared to retail? I've seen a VH4 pedal for around $600 when I got mine for $250 new!

Maybe it's just me, but I feel ripped off if I pay more than half retail price for something used!

The lowballers force people to ask for more. And honestly if you think the gear in the forum is overpriced then just don't buy it. Some people have an entitled attitude about used gear. Like the world owes you a killer deal because you are gods gift to gear flipping. It hilarious on both sides. But if you don't like the price you can either move on or feel the need to be the town crier and call the gear police on sellers. I'm personally too busy playing my gear to give a rats ass what someone's Marshall is ( or isn't ) selling for.

I guess I don't see why lowballers force people to ask for more? Asking for too much eliminates some potential buyers from the jump. From my perspective, if someone asks too much I don't even consider it. They can put OBO but I feel if I then offer market value that's lowballing relative to what they were asking, so I just move on. When I sell something I expect lowball offers, it's just part of selling. I politely thank them for the offer and decline it. I typically counter-offer any decent offer but lowballers are just declined, but I'm always polite about it.
