I've sold and bought so much different stuff on CL it's not even funny. Tools, animals, instruments, motorcycles, atv's, all kinds of stuff. Even gave stuff away in the free section. I never had anyone no show, never had to deal face to face with a moron. Other than shit trade offers, lowballers, and tire kicker emails every actual transaction made was super easy. I even met some legitimately cool people and players through there. It kinda sucks that many people have switched to flakebook marketplace but the musical instrument section is still going strong in the Austin-San Antonio area.

I live in the NE so people are massive retards here. I need to move.
I suppose they all want to use zelle or apple pay for in person transactions. I think you would like central Texas but it's undergoing a rapid change and will probably seem like the northeast in a few years except with hotter summers and less water.

The weight question is bullshit to set up for a partial later. "This weighs 6 Oz more than u said and my scale is more accurate cause I get it professionally checked! I want money back! When people ask the weight of a guitar, I just tell em its real heavy and they wouldn't want it. Saves us both time and me trouble.

Well it’s not bs at all—some of us play standing up at all times and have back issues. I have no issue driving hours to check out a $5k Les Paul but I’m not going to waste my time.

A fish scale is $10 on Amazon and it will arrive on your doorstep in 24hrs. If you are a serious seller you will provide adequate info

I've never had too much trouble selling guitars just giving a general weight estimate. I moved my Viper a few weeks ago. A couple times when someone asked I think I weighed myself without a guitar on my bathroom scale then with the guitar since it does tenths of a pound but usually I didn't even get the question. Most guys aren't gigging though either, so there is that. Quite a few more necessary things needed in a gigging axe IME.

On Point 2) Cabs have gotten insane. The past year I've spent scooping up any decently priced 4x12 because I fear they're just gonna be pricey now. Marshall 1960a/b's used to be $350-400 minty, now they're $700-800. Mesa used to be $500-600, now they're $800-1200. Orange used to be $800, now $1000+. Doesn't help prices on these shits have gone thru the roof, cabs that used to be $1000-1200 NEW are now $1600+. Here's some shit on my saved list...

Minty Marshall 1960B for $850. fuck that.

Minty Marshall 1960Bs, $800 each, $1500 for pair. fuck that.

Normal condition Marhsll 1960B loaded with greenbacks $1000 $850 - MAYBE worth it because of the Greenbacks, but honestly nah.

Absolutely torched 1960B for $550. LOL

Orange PPC412 for $700? Right down the road from me? Why haven't I bought it? Celestion Classic Lead 80 speakers. You couldn't pay a sane person to take those speakers.

Beat to absolute shit Mesa 4x12? $1200, no scratch that price reduced to $800.

Am I bitter about cab pricing? Yeah. I'm not paying premium prices for something someone thrashed.
It’s a weird phenomena considering how many people are moving to loaded down amps and IR solutions. So the demand for cabs, especially 4x12’s has probably dropped. I’ve had an EVH 4x12 listed for several refresh’s on Craigslist for $600 and the only bite so far is a scam.

I don’t want a pig either so I always ask about weight. Not for some guitars like SG’s or V’s but definitely for a LP or Strat. Have never played a heavy Strat that sounded any good. It’s something that turned me of the G&L tribute series. Every time I picked one up it was an anvil.

So many terrible sellers on Reverb. I just had one a month ago where this clown shop has a cabinet listed and doesn't even know if they have it to sell. We made a deal on it in January and I told them I would pick it up (because they wouldn't ship it). Then they cancelled me because of all the snow we got and said I had nowhere to park. We arranged another time and they cancelled and they said they did not know where it is. I waited a few more days and called the owner and he was rude and dismissive to me so I told him to fuck off. It is still listed. It was the only matching cab for my head that is a 1x12 and it sucks, but I would rather order a cab than be jerked around by these assholes. No professionalism or service in the world anymore. Everyone is a dick.

I truly do not understand the economy. No one wants these things, so prices go...up?
Meanwhile, I'm listing mint condition stuff at 45-50% of new and have zero serious buyers in over 3 months.

List it for a higher price, maybe it'll sell. I had a LTD guitar listed at rock bottom pricing. It sat for months since listing it late last year. I raised the price by about 20% and it sold in a couple weeks. People are morons now. In the modern peanut brain low price means that there is something wrong with it. High price must mean this one is special.

I have sold a few hundred guitars online. 2 things I've learned: 1) the more questions the buyer asks, the less likely they are to be a serious buyer and 2) Give no detail that allows for remorse/partial refunder buyers. They can go somewhere else. IE: It weighs 8 lbs 4oz. Or the neck measures 19mm at the 3rd fret.

The reason is not to be an asshole, its because pieces of shit scrabble together a couple of grand and spend the next year "demoing" guitars looking for the one that will make them the next SRV while sending dozens back in the process and costing me time, trouble, and money. I want to be clear: I no longer sell online due to these headaches and I have never had a customer that thought I was shady etc. Unfortunately, what used to be a fun hobby that alotted me some free gear occasionally is ruined by scumbags. I can tell you stories you wouldn't believe.
