Rhett Schull...

Man, you're taking a light hearted comment way too seriously. Maybe go see a doctor about that stick stuck in you bum.

It’s ok, man, you actually don’t have to do the “I wAs JuSt JoKInG ThInG CaLm DoWn” thing when no one was ever angry, that’s no different than raising hell over a menu item when you clearly didn’t know what you ordered. That shit is for low IQ types with glass spines.

That anecdote gets used all the time as if it has merit, which I suppose it does if one refuses to acknowledge the other side of the fence that has to deal with it regularly.

Because some of us, that have been playing for decades, feel no need to try and base the worth of our opinion by posting videos. That's a phenomenon created by this whole ball of shit the internet created and narcissistic view. I've met and talked to hundreds if not thousands of players over the years, many of whom I have never heard play, but we still talked gear and unless the person was an obvious douchebag bullshitter, I never once considered their opinion null because there was no "proof" of playing ability. There have multiple successful producers and engineers that don't play as well, or at all that still know a shit ton about gear and tone and how to make a good record. Can I play? Yes. But I'm way past the "I'm better than that guy" dick measure bullshit.

I think it’s narcissistic to believe one can just write some words on the internet and believe it’ll be taken at face value. Since when do people believe everything they read on the internet? Especially with the amount of dumb shit that gets said about gear regularly.

That’s totally cool with me if you don’t mind talking to people who don’t know their ass from a hole in the ground. Successful producers and engineers have experience, so at least you agree that experience provides an informed opinion. Coincidentally, those guys all have evidence of their experience as well.

Lastly, the post you replied to of mine was replying to this-
It would be one thing if they were actually good at playing guitar. Most of them are mediocre at best.
But no one ever said you need talent or even be likeable to make money on YouTube.

So clearly I’m not the only one here that expects someone running their mouth to be able to back it up.

So, because I've been playing for 44 years, gigged in the late 80's and most of the 90's, but haven't posted a video of myself playing to prove my prowess makes my opinion invalid?

I've never seen you post any clips :dunno:

Either in the main forum OR the clips subforum

So it seems like maybe a disadvantageous argument

Well anyone can say that about themselves. I don't believe much of anything I read online.

I'm not saying you have to post clips, because I really don't care. But I take the words of someone that HAS posted clips and has proven to me they know what they are talking about more than someone that just says "trust me" or whatever.

I guess I'm just not worried enough whether people believe me or not. I stand to gain nothing by bullshitting opinions or trying to portray myself as an "expert" on a subject that I am not as I am not promoting or attempting to "influence" anything. I take the approach that anyone with common sense that is not spending their first day on the internet can sus out who the bullshitters and liars are. It gets pretty easy to spot.
Furthermore, as has been discovered and brought light lately, there is now the ability for people to fake a video of themselves playing. So really, is that video confirmation of somone's knowledge?
Will I ever post a video of myself playing? Maybe. But it sure as hell won't be to try and convince some smug internet douchebag (not you) that the information I'm offering is real. It will be for fun.

I understand totally. I've just seen so much dumb shit that I don't believe much anymore. But I agree that people should use their "bullshit detector."

Tell you what Thumpster. I knew you could play due to the various demos you posted thru the years. That being said I totally enjoyed your live Diezel VH 4 clips, to the point where I would love to own one.

to me it is, as is the over the top hatred for youtubers by many here, which i have been questioning and trying to understand for years. Like i always say, most of these guys are entertainment for me discussing the exact same things we do here while im on my treadmill or sitting in traffic. How a thumbnail pic or a stupid title, which everyone knows is the youtube game, gets people so pissed off is beyond me.
I feel you dude and putting negative energy towards something is a waste of your energy, time and doesn't benefit anyone in any way. However, I see plenty of other YT'ers enjoying attention and success because they are entertaining and post good content without posting stupid click bait-y or demeaning titles on their videos. Those that do, I don't watch their content whatsoever. A simple fix if it bothers one so much.

With that said, it baffles me why people hate on Fluff, Pete Throne, and now fucking Euge Valovirta all of a sudden? People are bored and need to step away from the computer.

He's posted quite a few clips elsewhere so you must've missed those as well. *shrugs

They weren't memorable enough to me to file them away in the memory apparently - as you refused to post clips for like 2 years, I assumed you would be more amenable to the "bullshit detector" position

What are you baffled about? The shit that clogs my YT feed are the very people you mention, plus many more.
Not just YT.
My FB Reels and Instagram feed is full of
that turd Phil Sayce. I can’t check my feed without seeing the mf’s dumb bitch face and his irritating playing.
I watched a new Beato Eric Gales interview and all these two fucks were crying about was the occasional negative comment on YT. I thought Gales was gonna start crying again, like in his first Beato interview.
Even Greg Koch is becoming annoying due to he thinks he needs to post a daily YT video about nonsense subjects.

I'm not following the argument very closely tbh so not sure what to say. I was just noting he had posted a bunch of clips in the past. He's on the east coast, and you're on the west coast, so it crossed my mind that maybe your forum times do not line up so well. I didn't post clips for two years because it was being demanded of me and I don't say how high when someone says jump.

I think that's the same reasoning findthetone has :dunno:

I went through and I have seen DrewJDs clips before, he just hasn't posted anything in the clip subforum in over a year or something which is why I didn't remember

Not that I blame him, no one ever checks out the clips there ask me how I know :hys:

Most members don't even realize theres a clip/video subforum

My band has talked about doing our band practice live weekly.
YouTube, Facebook and a few others all at the same time. No script.

I was also recently asked to be involved in a reality show. Slightly scripted.

I believe the best way to make money is sell merchandise.

As for all these people mentioned in this thread on YouTube...I blocked all of them years ago. I don't watch any of it.

F-me, Im glad Im not the only one, that dude (Phillip Sayce) is horrible. I was going to post a thread about that too but saw the Rhett Schull video first so.....had to jump on that first haha

In some ways, I get it, he's going for the big energy SRV rip off, but man, that gets old after 5 minutes. It was already old with Kenny Wayne Shepherd....its too much. And again, he's a grown man with peroxide hair, he needs wise counsel, not another tubescreamer.

Im cool with Greg Koch posting every day, its better than most of the other crap out there.
