Most guitar manufacturers today are having a hard time finding Ebony that's black, Maple that's dry without having to "bake" it,...etc
Isn't maple in vast numbers all across northern parts of US and Canada? I'd imagine that there would be plenty of suitable wood for necks if the species is not threatened.

I have a Musikraft neck and imo it delievers. If there would be something wrong with maple today i think it would effect the guitars of bigger brands as well.

I'm sorry but warmoth makes excellent necks and bodies !.
I can't speak for musicraft
Yes it takes a luthier to do the finishing touches.

THIS. unbox a Warmoth and bolt it together its going to be junk. Send it to a good luthier, get it fitted nicely and plek'd and you will have a fine guitar.

It's like making a pizza crust from the freezer, tomato sauce and cheese doesn't make a pizza near as good as a chef with 100 year old family recipes.

This thread really makes me wish there was a middle ground option between a stock off the shelf Charvel and a Masterbuilt Custom Shop Charvel that takes 3 years to get.
Just checked. Right now the wait time is 12-15 months

That's actually not too bad.

I still think there's room for a Goldlilocks option.
