I heard clips online. But to be fair, they were probably in the room, which definitely sound boxy and darker than micing the amp. I know it is supposed to sound like in the room. But to me a properly micd amp sounds a lot closer to actually playing the damned thing..before you post eq, etc.I never did understand that. Are they harsh, ear bleeding bright? No. Are they dark, smooth, polite or whatever? No, not in my opinion.

I think some people don’t know the difference and just repeat what others say. Most never even played the ampI think people confuse warm with dark.
