Gibson M III Stealth opinions ?????

I actually dig it...reminds me a bit of a bastardized ESP Horizon-III body!

I always had a bit of a soft spot for them when they first came out...pretty sure I saw one with a maple board that looked very cool. From memory they are actually really really good guitars but they just didn't take off because people didn't want a "shred" guitar from gibson

A maple necked one? Alright, well I'm sold, I want one now for the obscurity, the weirdness of an 80's Gibby and something that plays well...

I haven't offered lower because the guitar has only been there for about a week. I haven't had good luck with that in the past. They usually loosen up after a month or so.

90 days is the magic number now at GC per a friend that works there.

It looks ok. If it was a great player with a good set of tones... I would consider it. I like a Parker Fly too, so unusual is not an issue. I have never seen of those in person.

Not a big fan, personally. But if you like the look, and it plays well and sounds good....

I do think the price is high. I seem to recall that they retailed for not a hell of a lot more than that new back in the day. Even though they are somewhat rare, they are not a sought after collector piece, so that's not driving current value. I would probably only be interested at $600 to $700, on the high end.

I appriciate all the input from everyone. Im still gonna try to get them down, although I have no reason to doubt what Heritage said about the 90 day thing.
Here is a few pics of some of the other models with the maple necks......

I had the chance to pick one of these era gibsons up for $500 last year In mint condition. It was in metallic blue with ebony frettboard and neck through design I believe. They came with either Floyd's or steinberger trems, this one had the steinberger trem so I passed. There was also some that Wayne Charvel designed from that super strat era.

Does the one you're interested in have 'velvet bricks' or 'dirty finger' pups?
I LIKE those pup's a LOT.

My '82 Explorer had the black 'velvet bricks' in black.
I believe there were also zebra velvet bricks as well.
And then there are the "dirty fingers" pups, which look similar.
Did velvet bricks and dirty fingers both comes in all black and zebra?
I know they were both 'hot' pups, but I don't know the differences 'tween the two, if any.
Anybody know the facts and willing to share? :)

Yeah , what a trip. The colors they picked to reissue these in is an intersting choice? I'd be interested if they did a basic black or white. I snoozed too long on this one I was wanting to pick up used and they sold it! I couldnt get them to move on the price though, so someone paid full pop for that thing!

I had one for a minute...Good guitars and a bit out of the norm for gibson but
I gigged it a few times with great success..! Quit caring about what anyone thinks.
If you think it's good...it is good!!

I've never played one (that I can recall), but have always kinda liked them. I like the oddball Gibson-as-shredder thing it has going on. The new reissues are tempting at $1200, because they're now mahogany. The old ones were I think maple and maybe something else? I don't think they were ever hog.

This is the one I would LOVE to see Gibson reissue, in mahogany this time instead of balsa wood-

that there was the holy grail of the MIII's M IV's...worth at least double or double and a half that asking price...if you see another at that price I will take two!
