Ugh man, sorry to hear that. This layoff shit needs to stop!
Yeah, my resume is current, and ready. I was already looking because I saw it coming.Very sorry to hear that. I've been there also. When My kids were younger and my wife was a stay at home Mom.
Try to stay positive. Do you have an updated resume? It would be good to have it saved on your phone to apply as soon as the emails hit your inbox. Most HR folks stop collecting resumes after 10 or less applicants.
I had good luck finding a job on zip recruiter I think it was about 10 years ago. I was back to getting a paycheck in 6 weeks last time.
A veteran of the industry... hmm.. They didn’t deserve you brother. Remember that. Breathe easy. Time to bounce backInside Sales for a chemical manufacturer. I've been in Industrial Distribution since the 90's. 15 Inside, 7 Outside, 2 years as a Branch Manager, and several as an Area Sales Manager. My background is Fluid Power, Hydraulics, and Power Transmission. This job actually sucked. I made less than 20 years ago after I left my last job where I had a boss that was a tyrant, bully, and micromanager.
Maybe this is OT, feel free to move it there. I was laid off this AM. Business is down, and the job scene is dismal at best. This really sucks.
I see what you did there.I am in the elevator industry. It's doing fine. No slow down at the moment.
That's what I did with this job. It was totally different selling chemicals. My background is in hydraulics primarily.Sorry to hear.
If you have a successful sales track record, it may not hurt to look at other sales positions in similar, related industries, or other industries. though some can be or require high specialization and knowledge.
In tech sales where I was for example, (computer software and hardware) most sales people have tech backgrounds, but not specific product area expertise with some exceptions. Sales are often paired with tech specialists who know the product, the competitive landscape, SWOT, etc.
Tech sales was all about relationships, responsiveness, consistency, trust; technical depth and knowledge is left to the real experts.
just some alternatives that might be options to consider.
Good luck.
Maybe look at heavy equipment sales ?That's what I did with this job. It was totally different selling chemicals. My background is in hydraulics primarily.
