Is Modern guitar playing boring?

I like to hear ambition, catharsis, anger, happiness, lust, even sadness sometimes........you don't get that with artificial crap. Sounds just like everyone else.

Yep. As @TheGreatGreen and others have said, it sounds like chiptunes or midi at this point.

I hate to pull out the boomer-isms but they are 100% the right words to describe it - this shit has no feel, no soul, no anything. It's completely anodyne and emotionless.

It's crazy, I remember hearing one of my college professors calling Alex Skolnick a robot with "no feel or emotion", and a guy I used to see at open mic nights called shredding "sterile" all the time. Holy shit, I would love to hear how they would describe Skolnick or Yngwie or whoever compared to THIS shit. Honestly those guys sound like Clapton or Jeff Beck compared to Tammy Hansen or whoever.

I can honestly hear more emotion, inspiration, and passion in this literal midi music than I do in "modern metal" guitarists like TH, berried, Shitstick Monsanto, or Toes-in
