Musicians I never would have thought were doing hard drugs

My few friends who took acid, they never told me they had any flashbacks. They were very light users though and only did it maybe 1-2 times. I was too afraid of having this happen, so that's a large reason why I never tried it. I did know of one person who did acid more frequently and he said he would occasionally see clowns. I hope he was making that up because that's scary.

From what I understand, not only do you have to do it a bunch of times, you have to do it a bunch of times without very much time in-between

I've done almost every hallucinogen under the sun, but most only once (I was a "trier")

The types of really severe flashbacks and HPPD we're talking about only comes to pass when you take it like 2-3 times a week for months in a row or something like that

I did a bunch of it plus the shrooms and mescaline from high school until I was in my early 20's and tbh never had any bad experiences even when people around me were idiots, but it just got stupidly boring after a while so I stopped. I did notice that working a 9-5 the day after wasn't something I wanted to do as I was very sensitive towards people being stupid or dictatorial and it seemed to stoke my rage more easily. I needed a couple days of quiet time to collect my thoughts. Tbh drugs are mostly a waste of time, money, and life more than anything IME.

They are giant waste of time, and unfortunately I think a lot of people who haven't experienced the dark side tend to romanticize it - especially with famous rock stars and the like

I was good friends with a guy whose old man owned a restaurant and we both partied together at night and worked days there. Like real men of genius we dropped before work one day but not too much so we could keep our brains together. Owner came into the back hollering about some crap and looked like a giant 300lbs squirrel. To my credit even sober he looked like a 300lbs squirrel lol. Had a hard time not losing my shit laughing at him. We both got caught but he couldn't fire his own kid so he couldn't fire me either LMAO. Damn idiots man.

HPPD happens when LSD is present in the brain frequently enough to warp receptor sights into accepting LSD as the norm and treating the biological chemicals as hallucinogens. This could be from a lot at once, or just repeated use over a short time. Basically, I dropped acid one night and didn't trip. I was pissed, until I felt it wear off hours later and THEN started to trip. There's other symptoms with it if you want to read up on it.

I still recommend it to everyone. You need to have the epiphany. Just don't overdo it.

Alcohol is a drug. Alcoholics are drug addicts. Saying "drugs and alcohol" is like saying "Cars and Toyotas" or "Sports and baseball". Just because drugs are legal, doesn't mean that they aren't drugs. I mean, doctors can prescribe fentanyl.

I'm not saying that alcohol can't cause problems and be an addiction, etc. But to compare heroin, meth, prescription pills, etc. with alcohol just doesn't seem like an accurate comparison.

IME meth has the most dangerous and unpredictable users followed closely by people hosing the hard liquor. I had some fool on bathtub crank tell me to shut the fuck up once or he was gonna kick my ass. I hadn't even said anything.

I have more stories about meth heads than we have time here to recount. IME they are unpredictable but also very stupid and easy to, eh, mitigate. We occasionally get some shitbags who rent one of the slum houses at the end of the road and think they're gonna start cooking. I run them out pretty quickly.

Sure it can. People chasing a buzz do their best to find it. That means one beer at a brewery turns into several, and that drive home gets sketchy. Statistics back me up there. Society does a lot to normalize alcohol consumption, and that includes minimizing the negative side of drinking. Domestic violence and drunk driving are the forefront of drug related tragedies. Hell, even when it comes to celebrity deaths related to drugs, alcohol wins there too. Alcohol claims the most lives, we just remember the other ones because of bias.

In the medical industry there are. That's where the problem lays. More than heroin, most people get hooked on medical opiates. We're not fighting heroin right now, it's Fentanyl, a medical drug. When used in hospitals in controlled doses, it does serve a purpose. Ritalin and Adderall are legal speed. There are uses for those drugs besides recreation.

I smoke weed. But the truth is weed is regulated now, of a higher quality, and cheaper. 3.5 g of bud in 2012 was like $50. Now, you can get that for $25, and no worries about garbage.

if by regulation, you mean tested and tracked, but thats it. At least in my state(MI), most of the time "regulated" means x ray or chemically remediated to kill mold spores so it can pass the tests. That usually results in a dull smelling product with a "middle of the road" effect. Also at least 3 testing companies have been busted for fudging numbers. One of them did it so many times, that the state finally pulled their license (Varidis if you wanna google it), 75% of the product on the market in my state are what we call "mids". Regulation actually just adds more layers of corruption.

In the end, it's recreational use that leads to addiction, regardless of the drug. Your brain lights up the exact same way in scans. Addiction is addiction, and a drug is a drug is a drug is a drug is a drug is a drug...

AA is the largest addiction recovery organization for a reason.
