an amp I’ve know about for 20+ yrs but never seen or had the chance to play

Had to grab it when I saw one come up for sale

Fuck yeah

I had a Pittbull Classic (non GEQ) for a while; from what I understand that was sort of the precursor to the CLX. Much colder and more "evil" sounding than my D60. Cool amp

Nice score. I always wanted one of those.

There was one at my local Sam Ash a while ago. It was a stupid price, like $700 or $800. I should have just bought it right there, but I slept on it. Big mistake.

I finally decided to go snag it. I put some money in my pocket and headed up to the store, only to hold the door open for Kyle Bull as he walked out with it. True story.

That's the one that got away.

I’ve always wanted to try a classic. Had a UL and a 50 CL in the 90’s.

Congrats on the new amp. The pittbulls are sleepers. I've had a 50cl for over 20 years now. I just bought an old front loaded cab and put a used set of p50e speakers in there so that I could hear my 50cl with the speakers it was designed with.

Congratulations! I have owned many amps over the years. I bought a VHT CLX head just like yours back in 2007. I loved it! Easily in my top 5 amps I've owned. I don't usually regret selling amps but I do with that one. I know a lot of people call the amps dry. It isn't super saturated but the gain is really clean. The onboard EQ is great too. It was built like a tank. I got an Engl SE right after that amp, and it felt cheap in comparison.

Thanks mate! Mine has the reverb so doesn’t have the depth control. Hope that isn’t an issue

Great amp…master volume up past 2:00 is what worked for me…channel volumes lower. Been keeping a lookout for a couple VHT models…UL/CLX and 50ST.

Always loved the VHT logo...Way more than Fryette. VanHalenTone.....haha Not quite but it was funny when people used to call em that. I had a VHT fatbottom 2x12 cab...Thing was awesome...Super light, casters, PB50s, I shoulda held onto it....Never see them anymore. Was very tight being front loaded. Cool though.
