It isn’t. On your typical Marshal circuit you have a 470k/470pf parallel and 470k to ground. The pot replaces the 470k to ground. It’s literaly a 3rd gain control on a single channel which is quite overkill. Apparently the story is that for the James Lugo Amp shootout, people that compared either the Chips or Yeti to some Cameron’s and Cameron on-site him self commented the amp had too much gain and lore has it that Nick installed it because of this. Making a switcheable cathode bypass circuit on the second gain stage would have been much more practical. But hey, if 2 gain controls aren’t enough make a 3rd and rename it.
lol
Now seriously. These amps are no joke I put this amp up against a BE100 and preferred the chupacabra hands down... the only reason I sold the amp is because my living situation and desire to even play has changed dramatically... I have been sitting on this amp as well as all my other gear for about 2 years now. Thinning out and probably will end up with a powered Kemper in the end but if I decide to stay with tube I will not hesitate to get another chupacabra or a king kong(buddy of mine owns one killer amp as well)...
take care of my baby Tom.....
Good lord that sounded fucking badass! Great picking and playing dude!
I've had creamback 75 gas for sometime now but damn I think you just managed to seal the deal for me (currently running v30s). Also what pickups are in your Les Paul?
I don’t think you can go wrong with the 75w Creambacks. I only used V30s until I found the Creams. Never going back. I’m using the Fishman Fluence Modern in this LP.
