Congrats on the new axe ! I love my charvel, great guitars..

Screamindemon - That So Cal looks great! I need to buy one and do that to it

Congrats, I love my SoCal. Mine is pretty average weight, not too heavy or unusually light.

I like the ToneZOne but I wish it had just a touch more cut.

how much for the charv?
$600

The guy that owned it must have bought it and simply returned it. I'm still pulling plastic off the pickguard and the accessories bag with the allen keys and whammy bar wasn't even opened yet.
I'll give you $700
No way! :D

Oh please god before I go to sleep I ask you for Adam the once bringer of ultra pain to come back, the one that I love to here going off. YOu have delivered him back to buckers and floyds and noow we wait for Mike to work his magic on his marshall.

Oh I am getting giddy :D

Congrats Adam, those guitars for the price is not hype as they are just good guitars

Oh yeah, I have to take pics of my new Slime Green So-Cal before I meanie it

I have the candy green SoCal. I swapped the TZ out for a JB. The TZ was too fat for me. Muddied up my tone a bit. I really want a San Dimas but being unemployed keeps my funds too tight for that at the moment.
Jury is out on the tone zone for me too. Last night I found it could use a bit more highs, but I'm gonna live with it for a while, I do like the thickness it has.
The Evo in the neck sounds excellent....that's staying for sure.

I left the neck pickup in there. I was playing my SoCal tonight and think that I might start looking to trade my surf green strat for a San Dimas. If the right color comes along then I will probably be all over it.

Thanks Scott...they play great eh?
The green one looks nice!

I had never owned a Charvel back in the day, so I didn't know what all the fuss was about...boy I'm late to the Charvel pride parade.

The slime looks like this,

Going to make it look like this,

The Evo works great in the neck imo

Sounds great, I am going to a/b my one so-cal with an sd dist and the green one that still has the tz at the fortinfest as I need to order some funky colored dimarzios soon :D

Fact: Purple guitars and amps sound better...don't mess with it ;)

FWIW, I've played a bunch of these and the weights are all over the place.

They are great guitars and quit making fun of the color! I own the same guitar and it's currently my number one! I agree that the stock pickups kill. I tried swapping them out and I came back to the stock pickups because they sounded and felt killer! It was an eye opener for me because I used to hate the TZ pickup but now I love it after learning how to work with it.

One mod that I can recommend that Ive done on my two So cals is to put in the Petrucci style switch where you can split the two humbucker coils when in the middle position. It makes an already versatile guitar better IMHO

The Tone Zone/Evo is nice in there once I got to changing the pickup heights...lower them both quite a bit (a good 3/16" to a 1/4" from the strings) and they sound much better.

IThe purple is growing on me.
I hear you about the weight. When I hand this guitar to someone to check it out, the first thing they say it 'wow that's a heavy guitar'

Great idea...since these pickups are so fat sounding I bet they would split really nicely.
I was thinking of installing a push/pull volume pot (or that Fender volume knob with that push button on top) that splits both to get even more options with the three way toggle.

Ive thought about putting in a push pull volume pot as well but I might add a single inbetween the two humbuckers later on. With that said, both pickups split like a champ!! i am really impressed with the tone Im getting from both guitars!

on another note, I'm thinking about istalling purple pickups into my purple charvel just to be obnoxious and then I'll replace the pickups in my GMW with the ones yanked from the so-cal :D
