How is the pickup in this?Looks like it had the D tuna also? How well does it work along with the trem? I assume the trem is not great at that price point.

I am actually pretty happy with it. Stable! The pickup sounds fine to me. Maybe not the best pickup but definitely not bad.

Did anyone else already get one of these?

Mine came in last night. Really nice guitar for $499. I'll probably get it a proper setup because the floyd is actually flush with the body in the back but is angled up at the front. Neck is comfortable to me and the pickup, from 15 minutes of playing through my 5153, is actually pretty good. Very light guitar too...which I like.

How was the floyd on yours? Mine is angled up at the front and not flush with the body.

Mine arrived like this... Is this what you mean?

Yes...I'm taking it to my guy today for a good setup. Most pics and vids I've seen, the floyd is flush on both ends.

This is one of my many complaints about EVH quality control. It's obvious they have people setting up these guitars who don't know how to set up a flush sitting Floyd. And they often screw up the D-tuna also. And at that angle clearly the D-Tuna is unusable. Then people who don't know how it's supposed to be set up play or buy one and say this thing sucks. D-Tuner doesn't work and they move on with that impression.

My w/b Stripe Series was perfect out of the box. Love it! My USA Wolfgang Stealth took me weeks to straighten out. Guess EVH inc is a little hit or miss. Like almost everyone else. But the biggest complaint I see are trem and D-Tuner issues. Not quality. Set up. And that was also my experience. Usually an easy fix. But should be right before it leaves the factory.

They don't do it right because they CAN'T... it's a top mount Floyd, so that's the most expedient way to "block" it so the D Tuna "works", they need to block it in the cavity with wood or make up a cheap trem stop to mount in the cavity, you can make one yourself from an old Floyd saddle and it's corresponding intonation screw and a wood screw.

You guys need to learn to set up a Floyd.  The angle depends on string gauge and your tuning. More string tension pulls the floyd forward, less tension the springs pull it back. Its like a see saw, you need to adjust it so its right in the middle. Adjust the spring claw, retune, adjust, retune until it sits level. It certainly can sit level. I have 3 top mounted and they all sit level. Blocking it keeps the Floyd from tilting back when drop tuning (lessening string tension) and also if you break a string. You lose the ability to pull up on the bar, but that's the trade off. This is all you need -

Just dropped mine off at my luthier's shop. They will get it to my specs and set the action how I like it. I pick it up tuesday.

Wow, that's just bad assuming the action and relief aren't way out of whack too causing that much angle. A slight angle is perfectly fine on a dive only Floyd while having it level is the optimum setup, but that's just way too much of an angle. If the action and relief are correct and the angle is that great then the pocket needs to be re-routed correctly to lessen the angle and drop the Floyd down, or the heel of the neck could be sanded at slight reverse angle for a quicker fix to lessen the angle too.

Has nothing to do with necknangle or the neck heel... the D tuna won't work if the Floyd was set level... when you pull the D tuna for drop D the guitar would go out of tune unless thrbFloyd is either blocked or sitting on the body like in the pics

Can't you just lower the trem body screws? The seem awfully high to me.

I don't think you can pull the D tuna back in the pic,it would go into the body. I could straighten that thing out in 15 minutes.

+1 on this. Drop the bridge. Re-tune (several times if needed working the trem HEAVILY between tuning. Pain in the ass. But Floyds are worth it.
