Yeah, I think SRV's head was on display at NAMM last time I was there about 7-8 yrs. ago. Mike was standing by it, chatting with everyone.

Who’s got SRV’s with the mid cut mod?
Dunno who has it, but!

Tommy Katona, amazing guitarist/singer for Texas Flood, a badass SRV tribute band, has been using a tweed-covered SLO100, that looks pretty darn close to the original SRV SLO. Apparently, it's 1 of only 13 SRV Soldano SLO reissues made by Mike before he retired.
John Mayer has one of the 13.
I actually played thru the amp before Tommy got it.
I got my SLO from the same guy/store that Tommy got his from.
I think mine sounds better. :p
Tommy makes his sound way better than I ever will.
He talks about the history of the original, and the reissues in this video. Pretty cool for any SRV fan. Tommy absolutely nails the sound, playing, singing, everything.

I've seen Tommy play thru several amps, and he always sounds killer. For a while, seemed like it was a different amp every time I saw him. One night he was rocking a PRS HDRX 20. I was floored by how good it sounded. I’ve tried the amp a few times, and see the potential is there, but not at volumes I can play at.
Haven’t seen him using anything other than the SLO for a while now.

That part, where he says, "one of those moments, where were you when you heard about SRV's crash."
I remember exactly. I was 16, studying with this gorgeous girl in her bedroom.
DJ on the radio interrupted the broadcast to break the news.
Wasn't even a fan of SRV at that time.
Little did I know, I'd go down the rabbit hole, tube screamers, heavy strings, all the licks, singing a couple of tunes(Cold Shot, Pride n Joy) in a band when we played out.

As long as we're geeking out on SLOs, let's share some settings. I'm not a real high gain player and I'm having some trouble dialing mine in. I rolled a bunch of tubes yesterday and ended up with 12AT7s in V1-V3. Anyone know what settings SRV was using?

SRV only played the amp once and told Mike Soldano that he loved the amp then Mike found out about SRV passed away

I've owned a Hot Rod 50 Plus and have played several SLO 100s. Great amps. That being said, the Blue channel on the EVH 5150 III Stealth 100 is 95% that tone. I was blown away by how close they really were. Especially recorded and in a mix. The EVH has two things going that make it better for me. 1. The EQ is more usable. 2. The Red channel will take you to places that the SLO simply cannot go.

Soldano builds rugged professional amplifiers. They sound great. I simply cannot justify the extra $1,500.00 for that last 5%. YMMV.

Peavey and then EVH basically took some of the SLO Circuit. I’ve played the peavey 5150 and the EVH 5150 III which are ok amps, let just say(just my opinion)the SLO has more clarity and more presence more defined of your sound the quality of the SLO is second to none built like a Lamborghini. The SLO has plenty of gain thats for sure.

Guitar amps are just tools. The SLO has its place and so do the 5150 models.
