I spent 2 solid years in Baden working. And a year in Walnut Park. Watched a guy calmly shoot a dude 5 or 6 times in the middle of Thekla then just walk back into the alley. I just kept doing what I was doing.

It's a wild life but I will always say, it was a great childhood for me. Playing ball at Surrey, it was all great to me. When you are in a situation, you kinda don't realize how crazy it was. I do now, but at the time I never felt scared or threatened. All of those "g'd up" dudes actually treated me better than other friends I had. It's a scorcher here. Down from the 90s (88) but feels just as hot. Kids & grandkids coming over for games and eats, youngest son has been smoking the meat for days and everyone bringing a dish.
Fireworks at dark. It's my most enjoyable day of the year!

Because of my childhood I think I was never scared working up there as an adult. Even when I was being shot at I wasn't scared. Amped up maybe, but aware, calculating and clear headed. And even in Walnut Park or College Hill or Page and Hodiamont there are cool people.

I was growing up there, and then months at a time going to Potosi, MO...to a massive homestead with like 6 acres of forest and walking around with a .22 shooting and studying the land. I still love downtown STL, especially the South Side.

Well, where I live has everything you 'generally' mentioned plus no banjos being played as pillow talk after the animal husbandry act.The south is generally better. As you know we're all vaginas here so having a prius, that so perfectly represents a vagina of a car, is the perfect vehical for us.
Texas will be turned over into pussyville sooner or later as that's what we do...we run away from what we created and we do it all over again elsewhere. Texas is finished and doesn't know it yet.
