Figured I'd throw this together to show what my boy Daniel Short is doing...he's got some new stuff coming up the pipe and I'm excited for him. Just finished his 4th LP, and got a couple Explorers with a twist coming next. And what one of us doesn't enjoy looking at sick guitars, right?
First one: This is the one Daniel did for himself while learning what was up with guitar building....some mistakes were made and learned from, and it turned out pretty cool. Prior to this, homeboy had never worked with wood.....the first thing he ever built was the bench to build this guitar on...this was the build that made me throw money at him....and it sounds sweet like you wouldn't believe.

That led to his brother, who's a bomb guitarist, being shocked at what his brother did and wanting one of his own. Different style, different color, and completely independently of mine, making the same hardware choices I did lol...Sperzels, locking TonePros bridge and tailpiece, etc...this one sounds like the wrath of God through a modded JVM.

That led to mine, 003, pretty fast after that...documented here and elsewhere but for people who don't know we started with this:

and ended up with this:

This guitar is ridiculously awesome.....I play it daily for everything...blues, metal, rock; you name it, it's in my hand...dude did a STELLAR job on the nitro, especially considering he'd never worked with it before. Couldn't believe it when it showed; it was perfect. He's now using nitro on all his builds, just because it buffs out like glass and ends up looking nothing short of incredible.
Moving on to 004.....for those of you who don't know, my boy is in the Canadian Military and has been for about the last 10 years....word of his prowess got around and his Brigade Commander asked to play his personal build....needless to say, he fell in love. Few months later Daniel is approached by his CO who asked if he would consider building the Colonel a guitar as a surprise departing gift. He is being posted to the USA to attend a US military college that trains people for command as Generals.
Specs:
- Les Paul body shape
- African Mahogany body and neck
- Eastern Curly Maple top
- Indian Rosewood neck
- MOP dot inlays and headstock logo
- Single pickup, Seymour Duncan JB
- 1 Volume (Split Coil), 1 Tone
- Our Brigade crest sprayed in gold on top
- Our Brigade Commanders Coin on top, where neck pup would be
- Actual stone arrowhead in headstock
Bringing us to here:

The coins embedded in the back and where the neck pup would be are given for excellence in the Canadian Military...every one of those coins are symbols of units he was responsible for.
And FINALLY....dude has a couple Explorer type models being finished up really soon, sporting this headstock:

Which I think is original enough of a design to interest people, but not so outlandish that it makes people shake with hatred....I dig it with the quilt and binding.
Anyway.....just wanted to show some love....dude is living his dream and that's something I try to get behind every chance I get. And just FYI: he didn't put me up to this....just wanted to get it out there cause he's not the type to blast on about himself even though he could. Hope you guys dug the read and pics.
