It totally is. It's sharp, biting and compressed sounding which I guess some folks don't like.
Listening to Power Windows and Somewhere in Time it really contributed to a unique washy sound for a few years.
I swear EVH used one on Cabo Wabo. I can make mine totally nail that tone, IIRC, with the EQ knobs all at noon. And there was an MTV special at 5150 around the Cherone era and they showed a 250ML on one of the shelves there.

That's really interesting. I'd love to see a photo of it. I know there are photos of it in David Gilmour, Alex Lifeson, Adrian Smith, Dave Murry, Strangeways etc rigs.
Bought mine new in '83. It's my oldest piece of gear. It's the loudest smallest amp I've ever heard. My Pyle speakers have stood up over time. Many have to replace them as the surrounds deteriorate. 1st time I ever used it thru a 4x12 cab I was shocked how full it sounded. Although I don't use it much these days I won't sell it.
