Get the Helios !!!
It is just what the doctor ordered !!
I sold a carvin legacy to help fund my uberschall and sold my uberschall to help fund the Helios .
For the tone I like best the Helios does it .
Something about the raw yet clear gritty tone with massive sustain that does it for me .
I like the clips but I think amp is better live then the clips !

I can only find one 50 watt Helios but it looks like they are about to drop this coming week. I have it in my mind that I will consider the 100 watt helios if I can find a dealer with a 30 day return policy. The clips are unreal. That is crazy good tone and after getting hit by a car and then finding Im riddled with cancer I feel that if I want it than Im getting it.

I'm sorry to hear .
Life is short , every day is a gift !!
I will say some prayers for you !!
Keep on rocking !!! It's good therapy !!!

Yes my adrenal mass was found during ct scan after I got run over over by the car.

Crazy story! But sounds like it is up and onward from here on out so I also support you dropping some cash on what you really want.

As for amp suggestions, why not one of the newer ceriatone amps? That King Kong looks like it packs a punch. The lunchbox Son of Yeti sounds bitchin from what I have heard on youtube and priced at 650$. That's going to make it a major player.

All i ever hear about around here is 5150 this and 5150 that... fuckin most generic sounding buzz machine on the market.

I know someone in Cleveland who has a Helios...in fact he just picked it up from my place where it was for a few weeks. I have a JVM410H and BE100 as well (not sure which Friedman you're considering) if you wanted to try before you buy.

Mini amp fest...
One last volume blasting hoorah before we move.

Prepares for bashing ...

Rather than throw out the usual's (Bogner, Suhr, Diezel,Bogner, Bogner,Friedman)... I'll take a chance and throw a few amps out there that don't get much love on the forums.

Diamond Hammersmith.. It'll do exactly what your wanting in spades. High gain, thick, and EL34 voiced. I got rid of mine and later found out that I suffered from a Jam pad with SHIT power, I regret selling it.

Krank Rev +. I played one next to a 5150 III two weeks ago and was floored. The Krank was a much better sounding amp. While the 5150 III was awesome, I preferred the cleans and the gain on the Krank Rev + hands down.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7HDvLM2BtE - -half step down no pedals, just engaging the 2nd master.

Mesa Boogie Maverick. This is a 35 watt class A amp ( comes in 2x12, 4x10, and a head). With the right tubes, It is by far my favorite Mesa "crunch". I gigged with a 4x10 combo Maverick and used a Mesa 4x12 cab with it. Takes boost's and effects better than any other amp I've ever played/had. It's the amp that pulled me away from my FJA 5150's.. and I Fing loved playing those.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RREXygZ ... e=youtu.be - Not me playing, but for sure shows the cleans & overdriven tones you can get with ease on this thing.

These are my 3 "they sound fine when I play them" amps lol.

Yeah I'd agree with the Krank, I have a Krankenstein and unless I'm out of work or in dire need of cash I don't ever plan to sell it. Very highly underrated or misunderstood amps. Mine is an absolute beast, and can dial in a ton of tones.

Wow thanks for all these cool amps to look at. The Helios is top of my list at the moment. Of course I got my last round of chemo last week and I cannot get off the couch at the moment but Ill be ok. The Helios might be available at the end of the week. Now if I can just find the courage to buy it....lol

There's an ecstasy half stack for sale locally for $3,400 if that is of any interest to you

Soldano SLO? Or Hot Rod 25 if you want less volume?...just got one and I dig it, maybe too close to your 5153's? More open and less plastic if you ask me....

Dont discount a mesa mkV. I've been getting glorious 80's rock and metal tones out of mine. Plus CH 1 can run the gamut of Fender cleans and dirt.

I like many different flavors, so if you're already satisfied with the 5153 for your cover gig, why change it? You already have the Nitro, which is your modded Marshall and you've tried the Recto. Why not buy something that you don't have to augment your playing at home? Why not pick up Twin Reverb and explore boosting that? That way you have the EJ cleans for recording, or a great platform with Bogner Red, for something boosted.

As an amp collector, I've gained more mileage out of going this route, where I have every sound covered if I want it.
