Just thought this would be a neat discussion :D What is your all time favorite amp? I have alot of favorite amps for certain things, but my all time favorite goes to, the VHT/Fryette Ultralead. If I had to use just one amp live, or for the rest of my life (or until I started playing blues/country :D :D) This would be it for sure. I LOVE the tones I am getting out of my herbert, and for what it does, it is the best, but if I only had to use one amp, Ultralead for sure.

Also, why is it your favorite amp? The sound it produces live? In the studio? Features? etc...

GO! :D

My Marshall Slash Jubilee it's my fav cause it gives me the tones i hear in my head. Great marshall crunch with a tad more low end. that's all i've ever wanted and for my style of music it's perfect.

Diezel Herbert for me. Before that it was the Ultra Lead but the Herbert just does it for me in every regard, so I dumped the UL.

Its hard for me to pick one. But today I am thinking my '60 Fender Brown reverb. More balls and thickness then your standard blackface, takes pedals well. Works well with every speaker and guitar I have tried.

But ask me tomorrow and I will probably say a different amp. :)

Guess I'm going against the grain, but if I could only have one amp it'd have to be an old 4x10 Bassman. That amp covers a lot of ground and sounds gorgeous doing it.

NMV Marshalls with a boost get me the tones I like the best.

BLASPHEMY!!! :gethim: :gethim: :gethim:   :gethim:

:D

Mine would be my Suhr PT100... by a good margin too. So versatile, great cleans w/ endless headroom, hot marshalesque gain with solo boost, transparent fx loop with loop master volume control... Just an amazing machine.

I liked my Herbert, liked my 20th XTC... I love my PT100

...However, I am still gassing hard for a Friedman Brown Eye or Kitchen Sink..maybe a VRock DL100....maybe a Rhodes Colossus...

hehe. The UL treated me well for a few years. That amp could really cut through the mix. The clarity was fantastic, clean channel was really good, and it had some crushing tone. To my ears though, there was something in the tone I couldn't dial out. A slight honkyness that bothered me occasionally. I even went as far as trying different tubes in it, which helped, but I think at the end of the day I was only ever 90% sold on the amp. Would I buy one again? Absolutely. It is a great amp. But with the Herbert, it's no contest. I just gelled with the Diezel immediately.

Wow, tough question. I've had both of my amps for a long time, and really like what each one does.

I know this is wimping out, but I would be just as happy with my '94 Dual Rec or Rev 2 Uber either one. The Mesa is raw and more flexible, while the Uber has the killer cleans and more defined distortion.

sorry, I'm not much help. :D

I also loved my Uber, but it wasn't a very versatile amp. I had the Rev Blue. Awesome clean channel in terms of unique tone, very big with massive bottom end. Did not like the volume difference between channels though. Lead chan has got to be one of my fav amp sounds out there. Very smooth, big bottom, vicious. Could easily pull of the 80's Lynch thing, and the lead sound while playing slide was gorgeous...beautifully smooth! But, beyond doing real heavy stuff or the 80's Lynch thing, there really wasn't much in between. It's not an amp of many tricks imo, but it does perform said tricks masterfully.

I would add an Uber in my arsenal again before the UL. YMMV.

Landgraff. Anything he makes, Nothing else has even been in the same ballpark. if only it.was not a 4 year + wait..........

just a good old 70's/80's Marshall JMP/800 2204 or 2203,boosted with a descent o/d pedal  .........it does it all for me!!! :D
