Thing is I don't see a mic on that Marshall. How do you know it's the one playing?
???

The Marshall head is sitting on a case, not a cab. He is running it through the 2 Randall cabs that are facing the him/crowd.

Why sad? I guess some modern "musicians" are threatened because these guys (and gals) can actually play their instruments at a high level?

It's sad that old washed up bands still have an audience and that great new bands are struggling to make a living out of their music. That's how it goes I guess; most people just stick with what they were listening when they were teens. Sadly, nowadays, most teens listen to the craptastic music they hear on the radio and don't buy music at all, except for the shitty singles they download online.

You're somewhat right. But man, don't hate on the musicians who made it in an era when playing an instrument was in the mainstream.
These bands and players have every right to have big audiences, they earned it.

Don't hate those that have proved their musical worth. They didn't start as rock stars either. It was still VERY competitive in those days of RnR. They weren't handing out record deals and national tours just cause your singer's ass looked good in spandex and he hit high notes cause his nuts were being squeezed so tightly in those "pants", and your guitar player could shred hard aged NY cheddar with the best of them. It's easy to look at it now and think it was so easy.

If you want it bad enough, then keep working at it, it might happen.
If it doesn't, well then, 20-30 years from now you'll be on whatever digital social forums there are then and remembering your good ole days when you were trying to make it. This forum is ripe with cats who wanted to make it back then, but life goes on even if you don't get that Ferrari and mansion in the hills. :)

As for his album covers and ambiguously gay appearance though? Well that I could do without but hey, he's got the right to express himself however he likes. Problem is, not many new bands make the music that we like that came about in the 70's and 80's.

Shit, I think the cover was the best thing about that album

That's part of my argument. The music "that we like" is just one type of music. I used to limit myself to that particular style too when I was young. Now looking back, I'm kicking myself. So many styles out there, for me it's unconceivable to like just 2-3.
But the annoying thing is people listening to one kind of music that bash another type of music (instead of trying to get into it)

I hear ya. I've got friends that are a lot like many guys here. They look at their younger years with rose colored glasses when remember their younger care free years, and forget how much crap there was. :)
I didn't like a lot of pop "metal" that was out in the 80's like Poison, Trixter, Danger Danger, but they were "pop-ular".

I like hard rock and Metal, but also appreciated other great music made in the 80's like REM, U2, The Cult, The Cure, The Police, etc...
I've got friends who think nothing good musically happened after 1990. That IS close minded no matter how much relativistic spin you put on it. If you are a MUSIC fan, then you appreciate good music regardless of what era it was created in.
The Satellite station I listen to most is Octane. There are a lot of really good hard rock and metal bands still making great music today. I grew up on Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and others and imo if you don't like the modern evolution of what those bands did, then you are being close minded if you think there isn't any good and great music still being made by some excellent musicians.

I'll now step off my grand stand. :)

Oh god can we not assume every Marshall out there on the pro stage has been molested by Friedman, please?

Preach!

i was pretty much able to poach licks from all of my heroes in the 80s;
vh, randy, sykes, yngwie, lynch, jake, meniketti, schon, schenker, uli, vandenberg, g.moore, ej, satch, morse, even mutants like lane and holdsworth to some tiny degree.

the one guy i loved but could never seem to snipe from was nuno, (and i could toss gilbert in there too).
super precise r/l hand rhythmic sync and speed and they played unique melodic phrases and not repetitive patterns.

:aww: never thought of that. I just figured he had his whole rig off stage. Thanks mate!

I'm glad people out there still appreciate this music. I'm so sick of the [c]rap music that 90% of the planet listens to. That leaves the other 10% for county, hipster, etc.

Mr Scary...I was a HUGE 80's metal...Helloween, Iron Maiden, Rush, Malmsteen, TNT, Randy/Ozzy- like it was the only thing that mattered.

I then gravitated towards jazz...like Scofield, Burrell, Frisell, DiMieola, etc even Spryo Gyra!. That was a HUGE "fix" for me...those guys could/CAN JAM! While everyone was fascinated with Pearl Jam, Nirvana etc....I went to the guys that were still exploring the fretboard and music in general.

My next enlightenment was "jam bands". Moe, Widepsread Panic, Umphrey's Mcgee, Ohm, list goes on. And now THOSE guys seem to be the ones that are shredding.

I was never one for "pop" music much..in fact purely incidental that I hated the music that "most people" listened to...the canned corporate suit rock/pop for the masses. Although I do have a couple guilty pleasures...a couple of Maddonna and Cindi Lauper songs. :aww: :)

There's good music out there...REALLY GOOD! And it's easier than ever to find, with Pandora, Slacker, Rhapsody and youtube. I just listened to newish Europe...and I'm fairly impressed....lol?

I could never catch this style on my channel. It looks I was always misunderstanding the time of the broadcast. Luckily just having a correct zip code I can quickly find all the information on my phone. Proper New York zip code will provide you all the information on the events happening around you. You just need to make some proper adjustments in your gadget to follow everything.
WHAT?
