Well, then it sounds like a hairy brown eye may be just what I want.

Jason

i bet dave named it that just to get a kick out of hearing full grown men leave requests begging to pay money for that on his answering machine

"dude i need my hairy brown eye done by next week..." :hys:

considering the working over your hairy brown eye has had in the last couple of years you may be in need of a replacement

Soldano does a mod which replaces the stock preamp circuit with the preamp of the SLO. That may be pretty killer too.

Why not just get a SLO then ?

:dunno:

Hmm, well let's see. An SLO and a Soldano Modded Marshall are hardly the same thing.. I had a Bogner Modded JMP and it was modded with the blue channel of the XTC more or less. It sounded nothing like the XTC Blue Channel. A modded Marshall will still retain some of the qualities that only a Marshall have. not to mention some specific differences ...

Different power section
El 34's versus 5881's
50 watts versus 100
2200.00 or more used versus @ 500.00 and the amp I already have.

Not to mention I have owned half dozen or more SLO's over the years and something a bit different is more intriguing.

I hear ya, and I realize all that. Just seems the SLO preamp is optimized for the power section of the SLO. To me you wouldn't really know what you would be getting in the end if you just drop a different preamp the existing amp, where as a mod from someone like Dave would be a complete tweak. Maybe I am wrong on the implementation of the SLO mod though ?

just my thoughts.

Hey David,
How's things? Hope you are well. Pretty epic fall ihere in the Pac NW eh? it has been sunny and watrm here in Seaside.

That is what I remember about that amp. He called it the Sloshall or something like that. I was thinking of getting in touch with him. I wish I had two mutts to have modded. All my other Marshalls are in good original condition and worth keeping that way. '79 JMP 50 in Fawn, Mint Silver Jube with plastic still on the front and back panels, White '82 2203 , '69 Plexi Major and a '71 50 watter.

Peace..

Hey Jason,
Everything is rolling along up here.....kids getting older....thanks for asking.. :)
Its been a beautiful Fall up here...My fav time of the year. If only my football team was doing better..
Ed did call that amp the Sloshall...that was a 79 I had done years ago as I mentioned. He has clips of it...you should PM him!
I'm not sure if Mikey is still doing mods on them..he probably would. I'll ask if you want..I work right next to him.

Hey David,

Glad all is well. Thanks for the offer to assk. I already spoke with Bill the other day and he said they would do it if I decide to go that route.

Thanks again, be well.

Jason

Jdub,

hope your amp comes back crushing it!

tell us how it goes----in the meantime:

be well

Anybody get their 'Hairy Brown Eye' back ? I would like to hear some clips.

Not yet, Dave Friedman is shipping mine today via FedEdx. I just picked up a Zemitias and a ESP Eclipse II so I can't wait for it to show up and plug in.

Thinking of running this rig with it:

Roland JC-120 on one side
Friedman Hairy Brown Eye Marshall Plexi on the other

Wah -->Stereo Pan pedal --> Guitar

Should be killer and get all of the late 80's hard rock sounds I dig.

Brad

Very nice Brad. I would love to see a picture of that rig when you get a chance.

Hey Brad, would this be the first time taking a picture of a hairy brown eye ?
Just kidding and congrats on the new geetars.

I got my "Hairy Brown Eye" mod back last week. It sounds f@#kin' awesome. Quiet, ton's of gain and the low end is nice and tight.

Go with Dave Friedman.
