Here's my fundamental list of gripes with the JVM:

In 2007 I bought one of the first JVM 410H heads for $1600 out the door, which was going price back then. Suddenly, when the 2-channel models were introduced, instead of being $1100-$1200, which would have been about right, Marshall slid the whole pricing structure up, making the 2-channel versions occupy the $1400-$1600 range, and made MAP on the 410H something like $2299.00. So without any differences, overnight a $1600 410H costs $2299? WTF? That's just cheating.

After using my 410H for a while, I found that my 12-channel head was really only a three-channel head: Clean/Green, Crunch/Orange, and OD1/Orange. Every other channel/mode was unusable/sounded like ass.

If they're SUCH great amps, why have they depreciated so poorly? You can now get a 410H for less than 1/2 of MAP on the used market. The 2-channel equivalents haven't dropped that much. Could it be because the JVM410H simply is NOT a $2300 amp?

YMMV,
It's all relative. You think the JVM sucks as and you stated your opinion and that's awesome!.
I also agree that the pricing is HIGH but its the sign of the times and still affordable by todays standards.

I agree with some of what you said, but I can get a stock one to scream for what I like and My modded one is special to me.

Again, there are always going to be differences in opinion. The JVM wont make your list of great amps and that's cool but it doesn't change the fact that it is your opinion and others will feel differently regardless of the price point. The reason why amps depreciate in value has a lot to do with many things including posts and reviews like yours.( Not ragging on you as its the nature of the beast!!)
Ive seen it happen many times. Now 5 years from now if when they are discontinued watch and see what happens. you'll have a ton of guys saying how great these amps were and that they have no idea why every ragged on them. Then watched the value go up hahaha.

I just watched a 50 watt Marshall 2205 go for $1000 plus shipping on e-bay. In the 90's you couldn't give those amps away and the diode clipping rag stories on the net at that time were legendary! Then you have guys like Michael schenker and John Norum playing them and everyones minds change hahaha!
It's just strange watching things like this happen!!

All the best!

Never said it "sucks" -- just that I don't understand how they justify a $600 price increase just because they want to make 75% margin on the JVM line. I think if they had left the 410H price at $1699 and put the 2-channel versions around $1000 they'd be selling double what they are now--it would be the go-to "Swiss Army Knife" amp and everyone (including myself) would be a lot more forgiving of the price-to-tone ratio.

Check out other amps in the $2300 range and see what the "comparable" amps are, then see if you would still take the JVM over one of those amps... s'all I'm saying. Well, that and I sold my JVM because my $800 Vintage Modern gets me WAY better Marshall tones.

As noted, YMMV.

Yeah, sucks was a typo, I meant to say that you think the JVM sounds like ass hahaha :D

i don't dig the Price increase either, so I agree with you there. The two things that I think we disagree on is that I think that you do get a lot of amp in the JVM and when you bias the amp right (it usually comes biased cold) I think there are great Marshall tones in it but that's just me. I guess you and I just see/hear it differently that's all.
