I believe the axe plus a power amp is a LOT of coin for a bedroom rig. I'd try the Faustine Attenuator if I were you. If it doesn't work for you, sell it.
At this economy right now you'll lose so much money getting rid of your amps in favor of the Axe

Anyway there are excellent alternatives for small tube amps for practice, I'd go Friedman modded Jet City or Vox Nightrain without a doubt...

This is one of the best pieces of advice on here. The Vox Nighttrain is a more than likeable home tube amp.

I just picked up a Pod Pro 2.0 for low volume/silent playing throw a boost front and actually sounds really good. easy fix for $100

I have had and still do have a LOT of Heavy Hitter Amps...
What I use for Low Volume Bedroom amp is the Egnater Renegade 65w Head with the Matching TM2-12 Cab.
It Gets Awsome Vintage tones has pleanty of Grind & Gain especially with a Hot pickup... It has Great Bottom End and Punch, and has a 18 Watt Power Switch
For Low Volumes...
I can't say enough about the Tone of this simple Setup... Has a Decent Reverb also, and is very affordable. Bargin for about $1,200 at any Guitar Center

I haven't tried the Axe FX, but on the cheaper route, I have a Vox Valvetronix+ that I play on at night. I plug headphones into it and it sounds great. It's 60 watts and gets really loud when you don't have headphones plugged into it.

In my little twisted mind... These are the three options I would have considered, in no particular order.
Axe-FX. Straight into the computer with some good monitors for jamming at home, and maybe a poweramp and cabinet for playing loud if the opportunity strikes.
Attenuator. A good one, or in your case three good ones. So that I could crank a 100-watt stack and enjoy it at home, without going deaf, or anyone complaining. This would still leave me with a killer set-up for when I needed the full power.
Small amps. I generally don't need THAT much gain(got it set at 6 now), so I'd get a long way with some really low watt-stuff and maybe a boost. Alot of those old records I enjoy the tone of was recorded with small amps cranked, and if it sounded great then, it should be enough for me.
