Given how much I like what the Axe Fx brings to the table, I have also decided to give powered monitors a try and ordered a pair of good ones.....should be here Monday.
The more time I spend with the Axe, the better I like it.
FWIW, I don't feel like I am always lookng for a work around like I have with other modelers I have used (some of which have been quite good IMHO, but not in the same league as the Axe)
I have owned some of the best high gain amps made and don't feel like I am giving up ANYTHING using the Axe FX. With that said, I do have to learn the nuances of each sim as I start using it. They all have their unique quirks, just like the real deal.
It is astonishing how good this unit is.
Can't wait to receive my monitors so I can see if the cab sims are as good as the amp, power amp and effects...if they are, you will see me spamming my cabs soon as well.

Aw man, no need for sorry (although I appreciate it
) I just did a gear reduction blow out and took care of a bunch of bills, but still have an incoming Suhr Badger next week and another insane amp a few weeks out. I'm set with gear. I honestly don't think I would make the most out of that unit...I don't really have the techy knob twiddling patience required I don't doubt its super cool though.

Short thing I just did. I used the Euro2 amp sim for the rhythm, hint of verb on it. The "lead" is the Recto 1 sim with a tube OD in front and a bit of compression as well as delay...
I am trying to make my rhythm tracks sound more open... Don't now if I did it or not?

I really hope I dig them. They are very well spoken of...it is just a HUGE departure for me.
With them in the mix, I will be able to use the cab sims on the Axe.
