Best VH tone - VH or VH II? Which amp do I sell?

VHII by a mile, but my fav is WACF followed closely by 1984. The jangly, medium and low gain sounds he gets on 1984 I love.

Gotta go with VH II! Just listen to Beautiful Girls... dont get much better than that!

sell the cornford

get a CM plexitone & run it thru the soldano for VH1

Pete Thorn was right on about the plexitone

they should have called it the "EDDIEtone"
I added a Rane EQ to may effects bank to jack the mids/highs for some excellent early era VH tones. Cornford RK preamp does a better job at doing Ed's Marshall era tones with the Rane set accordingly. Soldano sounds like tittie sugar! :)

I'm flabbergasted that folks would think any tone is better than the VH1 tone!! :) I actually picked up playing guitar after hearing "Eruption".
Me Too. And I swore I would play it and I nailed it. Can't even remember it now.

The guitar tracks off the first album and fair warning are my favorites. I was 15 when VH 1 came out, absolutely blew my mind.

for me its a toss up between '1984' and 'Diver Down'.......love those albums....and the toanz......

To my ears, Ed's '1984' tone sounds like he's using a tight plate reverb setting. Maybe a Lexicon inverse plate?

Dirty Movies off Fair Warning. Not too much gain, lots of sizzle and just awesome playing.

It seems to me, after seeing Eddie play live, he translates a vibe when he plays thru attack and timing. Ed was a genius in his zone. Add to that what he was learning and emphasizing at the time when each album was getting made.... He could play a few of his rigs on a few tracks, and as listeners, we would not be able to pick which one.

Chasing the tiny nuances in his sound thru gear is a waste of time. I always go back to Superstah getting excellent VH covers thru many various rigs. At a point, it is just money wasted.
