I figure I have some blame in this. If it went down the way it was supposed to, the amp would have never even been back up for sale. Eric was nice enough to let me out of the initial deal, which he didn't have to do. I don't know much about what's going on in his personal life right now, but I know it involves family, and I know kids are involved. That will take a toll on any man.
I see your point, and I feel for Metalhead; and from a certain perspective he was a standup guy. But it's kind of like January 17th, 1998 when Bill Clinton had to testify in regard to the Monica Lewinsky scandal. I always felt that he never even should have been put into that position where he had to choose whether to lie or to not lie. But the fact is that he was put into that position, and it's unfortunate that the position he chose was to lie . . .

Don't want to jump in the fray, just a quick comment on the minimum post count.

Why add rules? This would be very TGPish. If some one only has a few post counts, don't buy from them. Simple. When it gets around low post count sales don't really fly here, no one will come here to do it. So, the sales thread should stay fairly clean.

I mean, I have a deal pending with lolzgreg, I've neen patiently waiting for his cab to be shipped to me but I am completely fine with it-he has kept me updated this whole time and I knew shipping would take some time before I ever even sent payment. I just don't like being lied to!

Amen, and thanks for your patience in our whole deal, by the way. Anyone who has dealt with me on this board knows when I sell something, it's always as described, and I always pack the beast like an animal. As I said, I'll make it worth your wait with some goodies

I hope you get your amplifier soon.

Personally, I look for account duration. It's really easy to rack up 100+ post in a week and then proceed to screw everyone over.
I'd much rather deal with someone who has 10 posts spaced out over 3 years. A regular member that contributes occasionally.
Not everyone on a forum feels the urgency to make their presence known on every thread.

Oh, and I look at the past posts of the person I'm about to do business with as well.
It sounds elitist, but I've rarely had a great transaction with someone with bad punctuation, poor grammar and run on sentences.
In public our appearance says a lot about us.
On a forum our posts do the same.

Agreed.

Did it have a Cameron Mod? Bet that snow blower blew more shit than any other....
No Steve, If it had that there would be at leat an ounce of some pure coke in the gas tank. Kind of like the CCV that Sah just sold There were two 8 balls in the chassis.
I'd be shocked to find out that Mark does blow.

I seriously doubt it. Those kinds of people usually lie constantly, they're forgetful and very disorganized.
I'm a little disappointed he's yet to stop in and tell someone to fuck off.

Makes sense...I mean, how could you maintain a business and keep up with the demand if you did blow?

Huh

Man, shocked to see that it was Metalhead. I've talked to him on the phone a couple times, seems like a nice guy.

This explains why he hasn't returned my PM's about the amp fest I am planning.

Hope all the outcome for everyone involved in this deal is positive.

+1000 on the wives versus gear thing.
My wife is riding me severely over picking an exact piece of gear for christmas.
It has to be something that can ,
1st off.... be here in time for christmas.
That was going to be Splawn gear but Scott is over run with orders.
She just don't get it.....
I am having a hard time trying to pick just one thing....
So right now it's the black water Les-paul or wait,
I gotta check the classifieds and I will get back to ya in a minute. :hys:

Wives will never understand our love for our gears. Especially coughing up 2-4G's on an amp
is simply ridiculous to them. It's just the way it is. Glad my wife is not the type who questions
every other gear related purchase i made. But then again, she has her moments. LOL.

I'm so thankful that I can be contented in my old reliable Mark IV. Doesn't really cost a second mortgage but
does everything well. Hope everything goes well for the involved parties.

Good on you both and glad this got cleared up. Seems to be simple miscommunication in a mix of busy and hectic schedules.
Steve
I too am glad things are cleared up but to charactarize blatent lies as "miscommunication" is a pretty liberal interpretation of the term. I truly hope Metalhead gets his issues worked out...I wish him nothing but the best. That said, I believe we show our true character (or lack thereof) under adversity...dishonesty in business dealings is unacceptable no matter what an individual's personal situation may be.

Hoff - hope you love the amp
Erock - best of luck with your job situation and congrats for being stand-up in this matter
Metalhead - I hope things get better and that this transaction is a one-time slip up/lesson learned for you

Big miscommunication selling an amp and not bothering to tell the buyer you do not actually have the amp, then telling the buyer it was shipped out when it actually never shipped...
Same goes with spending the buyers money before the buyer even gets the item..

We can just say he mis-spoke

Pretty much this. I'm glad it looks like everything is going to turn out OK, but there's still no justification for the behavior of the seller

Well he posted in the classifieds yesterday regarding buying a 20th Shiva so not sure how he did not have the funds to pay you back, unless it was just interest on his part regarding the Shiva. He has always seemed cool to me, however this was totally unfair to you and since he has not jumped in to defend himself I am guessing everything said is true. Hope you like the amp, and hope all works out for Metalhead, but this transaction was a big bust IMHO.

Well said.... I do the same when either buying OR selling gear to a buyer on the forum, which I just don't do very often. Guess that makes me a bit of an outcast around here

I generally don't like to be much of a rubber-necker on drama that doesn't involve me but on the other hand I am grateful to know who to stay away from as far as transactions go.

I'd buy some gear from Barzini, you just have to unpack it with rubber gloves and run the black light over it before making any direct contact :D
