On one hand - shame on them for lying (if they did) and digging their heels in.

On the other - try and find a large company that doesn't lie to get more money. They're few and far between.

NYXLs are my favorite strings. I'll start looking for a better brand, I guess.

NYXL's are great... WHO FARKIHNG CAres....

Absolutely wild that people get butt hurt over this... They're a company... they make strings, not music. Might just be me but does this mean their strings suck now?.... Jesus people...

(Before I get Rick rolled, I'll admit that was dumb.... But for the love of everything holy let me have my NYXL's.... EBMM is the pits... I said it)

I'm with you on this. Who gives a crap? I play Marshall and they make refrigerators. I'm a Gibson fan and years ago they were stealing rare woods. I still love their products and goijg to continue playing them.

I'm sure one lazy millennial employee made that video thinking it was cool and screwed it up for the other employees. Everything is so over analyzed now. A nightmare.

I use Ernie Ball RPS on my EBMM guitars.

I use Fender strings on my Fenders; Gibson strings on my Gibson and Epiphones.

D'Angelico strings on my Style-B (made by D'Addario), but may try a set of Stringjoy flatwounds

and cheap EHX string sets (9s, 10s) I buy in bulk when on sale, for almost everything else.

my capo is a D'addario / planet waves

I am not even going to watch the video...

I only use D-Addario 9-42s on my Electrics, as long as they make them I will keep buying them.

I am a big fan of the NYXL. It is not just placebo or suggestion - they really do hold tune better than any other brand and they feel and sound 'new' long after I would expect a set of strings to go dead. I recently gave a set of 'Balanced Tension' NYXL a try and I'm sold. I'll keep using these unless and until an actual quality control issue crops up.

I just put some of those on my Gibson Studio Session with the stock Gibson strings and brought it to life. I love every different type of D'Addario string. I even dig the cheapest ones. I never break strings.

I haven't tried the nyxls. Do they last longer than elixirs? I keep hearing great things about them.

I get 4 to 6 months on a set of optiwebs, and only change them when the fret grooves worn in feel like they go 25% of the way thru the wound strings. They stay in tune well too.

I'd kill a set of regular d'addarios in days, maybe a week.

Ebmm? Don't even get me started. Lol.

On Daddario using AI: this is just as bad, maybe worse than that black chick that AIs a bunch of blues stuff.
Especially if they're trying to sell us on the sound of their strings. Any AI use means we are not hearing the full actual product. This is false advertising.

The silly part is that did they really need to have a keith morrow type playing that kind of stuff? There are plenty of tones that can showcase a string's attributes better IMO. What was the point in bullshitting you way into showcasing some technical riffing like that? You couldn't tell a new string from an old one in the room with that much gain, let alone brand.
Is this some kind of "look at the cool demo we did!", best demo evar, company oneupsmanship?

So, did AI write the music, and then some dude either tried to learn it, or mime it? Or did AI tweak what he did?
The first is obviously much worse than the 2nd.
With all the defense going on, I assume the first one. Why not say sorry, ai tweaked it for us, and did a bad job. Most could move on from that,, provided they redid the video correctly.

The outrage comes from not the lie, but the fact that they think we as players and customers are stupid. Its a double whammy.

That said, I still may try a set, only because just about everybody says good things about them.

But at the end of the day......yawn.

Companies keep companying.

Meh......it's kinda depressing that we live in an artificial era (on many levels), but I am proud to be a dinosaur who only creates real music with real tube amps (and live drum tracks for that matter). :dunno:

As for strings, NYXLs have been my de factos for 5+ years and that won't change. Because they are the best for me and make every guitar better. In fact, I need to swap them to a certain new guitar of mine for the first time today.

I love the nyxl’s… so what did they do exactly?

I’ve been using Daddarios since ‘90-ish.
I don’t foresee myself switching.

Nothing to lose sleep over or abandon using them.

With that said, do Ernie Ball strings still suck? I’ve been using D’addario for 22years now and they are amazing. I’ve been wanting to try another brand for curiosity sake
