Knopfler is friggin Awesome and a great example of incredible strat tone if there ever was one. I dont think that hes over looked here or anywhere.. If he is, its only because people bring up pogues like John Mayer LOL!!!

I consistently only see one person bringing him up on here ;)
Consistently bringing up who? Mayer or Knopfler?

Mayer :D

For the re-union tour Andy was using a CAE-100 and a bradshaw pedal board/rack into Mesa 2x12s, IMO it just was not the same tone he had in the 80s.

Yeah it just wasn't quite right for the Police, IMO.

meh..hate mayer...not jazzed about most of these other guys...Trower is good...good tone, good player...although I can't take that type of music for very long...

but you can't talk about strat tone wtihout mentioning this guy..as per usual, he always gets overlooked on here..Marc fucking Knopler FTW

The thing is though, whenever I would hear a Dire Straits tune I'd usually change the station. Knopler had/has a terrible voice, he probably should have hired a singer. As a guitar player I think he is underrated though.

Thomas Blug...
Good addition - I should have thought of him, especially considering it's typically through an H&K - and there's not much love for them here outside of you and I ;)
