I wouldn't do that to that beautiful top but as long as you're happy, that's all that matter's bro!! You did a good job on the paint! Congrats. Looking forward to see the finished pics!! :thumbsup:
 
Quilt, over the top tops are for PRSi, I don't like them on a "Les Paul". Love the Goldtop!
 
It's your guitar do whatever you want! My opinion does not matter.

I think it would look really cool with a relic to the gold top which showed some of the quilt of the maple - that would look awesome :rock:
 
I'd take a goldtop on a Paul any day.

It's funny that people used to do just the opposite of this, ruining goldtops in hopes of finding pretty wood underneath.

Who cares what it looks like, as long as you are happy thats all that counts. What does it sound like? Does she ring?
 
If you ever end up getting rid of it someone is in for a surprise if they ever decide to refinish it. Looks good though-gold tips are sexy.

Not finished yet, man....I'll be sure and post it when it's done.....but I'm expecting it to....GREAT tone woods here, no chambering/weight relief, 3 piece maple neck and ebony board....all the great ingredients for some rock/metal. :rock:
 
It's your guitar. If you build it and play it then it should be as you want it. No harm done I say.

I love it.

There's something to be said about a GT man, it's a must have.

Me too....until this shows, I've got serious GAS for a GT R7. Hope it's killed with gold fire after!
 
Those pretty tops are nice and all, but to be honest, that goldtop is smashing!!! that is a mans guitar right there
