I love goldtops and yours is looking fantastic, but that particular piece of wood had a lot more character than most typical flametops IMO...I think I would have gone another direction on that one.

Hear ya man, but if I was gonna do a quilt I'd pick a much more highly figured piece....this was just cheaper than even a plain top when we got it.

Not finished yet, man....I'll be sure and post it when it's done.....but I'm expecting it to....GREAT tone woods here, no chambering/weight relief, 3 piece maple neck and ebony board....all the great ingredients for some rock/metal.

Dig it. I've always liked the idea of the sleeper maple tops hiding under gold tops or black. Play the shit out of it in good health.

The neck though...I'm no expert but that doesn't look like maple to me.

No man, you're right.....I ended up going with mahogany cause he had such nice pieces....apparently you ARE an expert!

It's all good. Great tops are cool but gold tops kick ass too. I bought a black McCarty std with the plan to do a white refin. This was sent to me, asking if I still wanted to make it white.

I had to think about it for a minute...then really question why PRS made the damn thing black?!? But I still painted it white, the figure will always be there.

thier only $100 - not permant and can be moved from guitar to guitar

you can even clear coat them too - if ya want a permant top
