I love the old Mesa Rectos, but the Uberschall is better...

Played a rev2 uberschall that was James Lugo’s at an ampfest 10 years ago. We cycled a lot of amps but the four that really stood out were the uberschall, the racked purple SLO, the fortin bones, and my modded 5150 II.

Yeah, I would have never described my Ubers at tight, tighter than an unboosted Recto ok but Ubers are definitely not known for their tight metal tone they are known for the massive low end smear . The Twin Jet was definitely better IMO but theres just something in the Ubers tone I dont dig. No matter we all have different ears and I love my Rev F and when I want ultra tight I plug in my Engl or VHT.

Eh, to each their own. I have owned two Rev green and a Twin Jet, still have my Rev F Recto. I always thought my Recto sounded meaner and more organic. The Ubers are cool amps but always seemed a bit messy with a weird high end thing going on, for me the boosted recto beat out all of them and cost me quite a bit less.

That Uber used to be mine...which is why I have had two since trying to replace it.

That Uber was disgusting. Wiped the floor of a lot of amps including my 5150. Just the sub low end power and punch was room filling. I had an MII that was tuned down to D standard at the time and people’s jaws dropped. There are cell phone recordings of me playing it on someone’s phone. Wish I had them.

Not once was I ever impressed by a Bogner but as someone said before it could have had the wrong tubes, just my 2 cents. Jim made a comment about his tremoverb and those are highly underrated but a boosted triple rev F has to have the edge over a uberschall imo.

Think he just got them to mod to his request. Did they say this will be a new version now? I like this better than a standard rev blue. If I was getting a custom uberschall though, it wouldn’t have that ridiculous comet tolex.

I read that Bogner will be making this modded version. It wasn’t from Bogner, but they would be foolish not to make it. They would get tons of people having amps upgraded too. Awesome way to generate a lot of business.

Nothing in this thread "needs" a boost. They just sound better with one. Triple Recto sounds good stock; the Uber I tried out also sounds good stock. But they sound incredible with a boost. If you can't dial a recto to sound good without a boost, that's user error.
