I love the old Mesa Rectos, but the Uberschall is better...

The Uber sounds much better than the Recto played solo. In a band environment the Recto stomps it and the Uber becomes borderline useless.

Weird, I've always found them both to be pretty okay in the mix? I prefer the feel of the Ubers though.

I’ve tried on many occasions to like the Bogners but I can’t, IDK why, but any dual or triple rec feels right, although I understand the jar of bees thing. But that clip of yours Dave sounds great.

Played a rev2 uberschall that was James Lugo’s at an ampfest 10 years ago. We cycled a lot of amps but the four that really stood out were the uberschall, the racked purple SLO, the fortin bones, and my modded 5150 II.
That Uber used to be mine...which is why I have had two since trying to replace it.

I had an Uberschall which I replaced with a custom green tolex 20th anniversary Ecstacy. I’ve been trying to track it down (the green one) and heard you might have had it at some point.. ?

It’s been said a million times, but for you guys that just don’t get it, boosting is more about the feel than the sound. If an amp doesn’t sound good to begin with, a boost wont make it better.

I don’t have extensive experience with the various Ubershall models, but the one I played back when they first came out was killer. I liked it a lot.

They’re both legendary companies, I played a dual rec for many years and was happy with the tone without a boost pedal, after traveling down the rabbit hole and studying history / circuits I hold Bogner in the highest regard, he’s just as important as Jose.

I had a Twin Jet that was great. Had the "purple mod" on channel 1. It was super tight, aggressive, huge low end. The deal breaker was the effects loop. It was terrible. Changed the tone noticeably. Otherwise it was a great amp.
