I got booted out of the house by the wife so I added on to the back of my garage and built a 500 sq ft studio/jam/bar room. Climate controlled, super insulated, tile floor, full bar, awesome lighting. Best thing I ever did.

I fucken hate you lol   Living the dream my friend!
I love it, had been trying to make this project happen for the last 3 years.

I got no room for my gear! Dammit... What's a gear hoarder to do????

You are not alone my friend... before the kids = man cave/ LAN gaming/studio, after the kids = my gear jammed in just about every closet possible and scattered across different rooms... the struggle is real!

I feel you on that, man. Before my wife and I had kids, we had a room for all our hobby stuff, her knitting/crochet stuff and my gear. Now, three kids later my gear is crammed wherever I can find a spot. :aww:

Nice RJF, mine didn't look quite that dressed up. No room for the bar!

I converted my 3 car garage to a soundproof room (up until the LA County screwed that last year).

It was great to blast a 100w Marshall at 2 am and not find police at the door.

Now it's got a car parked in it, due to the previous owner doing subversive crap to sell the house.

It sucks.

Guitars n cars

My buddy had a nice Lemans that him and his dad built up into pretty convincing Judge.

I had a primer red 70 GTO Judge in 1983, but was missing some front valance parts. It was the basic
model...radio, heater, 4 speed, 4.11 gears, power steering, no power brakes (drum at that).

Couldn't get the parts for it so I sold it to a tattoo artist.

It sucked gas like no tomorrow, fast as hell, but 7-8 mpg was all it got. Nuts.

They don't handle for shit, though, in stock form. Like the Firebird better. Of course
this one was almost restored right by it's previous owner, but it still needs some things
to be solid and reliable...going to be a bit before that happens.

Right now it's got moving blankets and finished speakers on it.

If you don't mind me asking, what did LA County do?

I'm considering a move to the West Coast (maybe California) and wondering how all of you are able to crank your tube amps without disturbing neighbors.

Why is there a car now in there? Are California laws that bad?

keennay, the seller of the house falsified some inspections to pass escrow. We found out about it after getting a new roof put on. Certain car parking spots (3 car carport) were illegal for LA County regs, and due to that they made me tear apart the soundproof 3 car garage, put in gates to access it, and I had to prove two cars could fit in it to pass inspection and not get fined $1000 per day pass their deadline.

If you move here, you need to get COUNTY inspections, not independent inspections to make sure your property is all legal.

We lost a 12x30 foot enclosed storage shed, 3 car carport and a little covered patio to sit in.

Pretty much negated the $25k I spent on the garage to soundproof it. Now my gear is split between the enclosed patio attached to the house, and the garage.

Once we get the final costs in and the structures back in, we're going to turn in the seller, after making him an offer to pay us back first. If not, he'll have fraud and other neat stuff to deal with, as well as some other sneaky crap he did while he owned the property.

Not fun, and I miss blasting my amps at concert volume, trust me.

It's been a PITA, to say the least, and expensive to rectify. Besides losing the soundproof room, it will cost around $12-13K to get it back, minus the 3 car carport and the outdoor patio. Dishonest people who falsify documents to get your money piss me off. But we'll get it rectified, with or without the seller's help, or permission.
