Ah, gotcha. I like that modern chambering but don't know whether it's completely replaced the other type of chambering nor have I found out whether they're sticking with that method. I think it looks far more well thought out even over the standard chambering they were using.

I believe they only use that style of chamering on Historics these days. Everything else is modern, swiss cheese and none. I'd prefer swiss cheese or modern but if the guitar sounds great it doesn't matter. If I were playing at insane volume levels I'd be a bit worried about the full chambered ones feeding back but I don't so no concern there...if it feels good and sounds good its good and style of weight relief wouldn't matter.
I hear you on the confusion on so many variances of a Les Paul its a bit much to keep up with. I was a bit overwhelmed when I was on the hunt and a LP virgin. Then to make it worse Gibson had the issue with rosewood and ebony woods so you had baked maple and richlite added into the confusion.
